A flip-flop bicycle pedal that utilizes both sides of the pedal such that one side correspondingly matches with a prior art road type pedal configuration known in the art as LOOK pedal and the other side correspondingly matches with another prior art mountain type pedal configuration known in the art as SPD pedal. Alternatively, a plurality of pedal adapters that utilize conventional type bicycle pedal configurations which complementary match a plurality of prior art bicycle shoe cleats known in the art as LOOK cleat, SPD cleat, SPEEDPLAY “X” cleat, SPEEDPLAY frog cleat, and BE-BOP cleat.
Spring-Loaded Retention And Release Mechanism For Use On Clipless Bicycle Pedals
A retention and release mechanism for use on clipless bicycle pedals employed to achieve a mechanical advantage in the retention and release of shoe clip adapters and toe clips and other adapters. A preferred embodiment of the mechanism fits within existing clipless pedals, thus replacing existing rear retainers, and comprises a means by which it is affixed to the clipless pedal, a cleat retaining formation, a spring actuator and a specialized rearward extending spar. The cleat retaining formation has a special surface which facilitates entering a clip adapter or toe clip into retention mode. Release mode is effectuated by pressure on the spar which then engages the spring actuator to open the cleat retaining formation. The mechanism may be used on any type of clipless pedal and with any type of cleat adapter.
The present invention is a spin bike pedal load changing means, and foot rest means for use in stationary training, that collectively greatly improves the capabilities of spin bikes over what is currently available in the art. The pedal load changing means allows the calibration of a range of pedal working loads, tailored to the individual riders capabilities and at the same time can be used as an emergency brake. The foot rest allows for the safe parking of the riders free leg during one-legged cycling training. The foot rest feature and pedal load change features both effectively increase the performance and safety of the spin bike in use, which is a much-desired feature for health clubs and gyms. The spin bike further allows the instructor to carry out a group class exercise routine, where each rider can set the pedal load changing means on each spin bike to fit their individual strength and stamina capabilities and also allows the rapid changing of pedal load settings to predetermined levels.
