Abstract:
Apparatuses and methods for controlling the stability of elevating systems, such as personnel lifts. In one embodiment, a stability control apparatus includes an angle detector and a signal processor. The angle detector is mounted to a boom of a personnel lift and configured to detect an angle of inclination of the boom relative to an independent reference frame independent of the personnel lift. The signal processor is operatively connected to the angle detector and is configured to receive a first signal initiated by the angle detector when the angle of inclination reaches a predetermined angle. The signal processor is further configured to output a second signal in response to receiving the first signal causing a boom control system to limit movement of the boom relative to the independent reference frame when the angle of inclination reaches the predetermined angle.

Abstract:
An on-board load weighing system for determining the magnitude of the load carried by a tractor trailer truck is provided. The weighing system includes one or more load sensors that are placed between the load platform on which the load is applied and the suspension system of the truck/trailer. The load sensors are connected to one or more transmitters. Each transmitter includes an on-board microprocessor that has its own memory. The microprocessors use calibration data stored within the memory combined with data provided by the load sensors to determine the magnitude of the load being applied to the load sensors. The transmitters then provide an indication of the load being applied to the load sensors to a master controller located in the cab of the truck. Each transmitter is connected to the master controller in a network. Upon power-up, the on-board controller interrogates each of the transmitters in the network in order to determine how many transmitters are present.

Abstract:
A system for determining the load on each axle of a vehicle (150) uses load cells (130, 140) mounted on the bed of the vehicle (150) at load-bearing locations that are longitudinally spaced apart from the axles. Axle weight for each axle is determined from the load cell output signals based upon the moments about the effective longitudinal center point of each axle assembly, and the load-bearing points at which the load cells are mounted. System calibration is effected by using load cell signals when the vehicle (150) is unloaded and load cell signals when the vehicle (150) is loaded.
Provided is a semisolid softgel fill material that includes water and/or other polar solvents, along with a high amount of a nonpolar component, such as an oil. Also provided are methods and systems for producing softgels including the fill material. The softgels produced by the methods and systems provided herein have a normal appearance and retain their structural integrity, even when dried according to conventional methods. Further, when the fill material is added to water or other liquid, as it would be following ingestion, the fill material forms small droplets, thereby enhancing digestion and absorption of the fill material.
Provided herein are methods and processes for emulsifying non-polar compounds, such as omega fatty acids. Also provided are compositions that can be prepared according to the methods and processes described herein. The compositions, for example, have a high amount of the non-polar compound, such as a large amount of omega fatty acids. The non-polar compounds are also present in very small droplets within composition. For example, the mean or median particle size of the droplets is less than about 5 μm. Further, the composition includes a low amount of surfactant, such as less than about 10-15% of the surfactant.
