Abstract:

Methods and apparatus for calibrating a vector network analyzer (VNA) and characterizing a device under test. In one example, a device fixture including a pair of embedded device adapters provides an interface between a device under test (DUT) with non-coaxial connectors and the coaxial connectors of the VNA, and moves the calibration reference plane from the coaxial connectors of the VNA to a DUT reference plane at the leads/connectors of the DUT. A through fixture having a pair of similar through adapters is used to establish the DUT reference plane and to facilitate characterizing the device adapters such that they can be de-embedded from measurements of the device fixture.

Abstract:

An electronic combination lock having a dial-shape handle with a keypad incorporated therein is disclosed. Rotation of the handle extends or retracts a bolt that closes or opens the lock. The keypad includes indicia that give the user visual cues as to the orientation of the handle, thereby informing the user of the extended or retracted condition of the bolt. A battery pack is used to energize circuitry that recognizes a code entered through the keypad. The circuitry provides a control signal that activates a solenoid to extend or retract a bolt blocking device, which in turn prevents or enables movement of the bolt. A visual indicator warns of a low voltage or power condition in the battery pack. Electrical contacts are provided in the face plate of the handle to connect the circuitry to an external power source in case the battery pack fails.

Abstract:

A self-locking electronic lock system is illustrated in association with safe doors having a door locking bolt works manipulated between door open and door locked positions by a door mounted handle. The bolt works includes a link which moves the door bolts and in turn is locked by an electronic lock in accordance with the present disclosure. The elctronic lock has a spring bias bolt normally biased into a locking gate provided on the link and is operated to a withdrawn position by an associated digital input electronic signal generating means. A lost motion connection is provided between an electric motor of the lock and the lock bolt such that the motor withdraws the lock bolt on entry of a correct combination to the digital input means and the lock bolt is biased back into locking engagement with the link gate by operation of an operator closing the safe door and manipulating the door handle to throw the door bolts into engagement with the safe door jamb, the electronic lock bolt automatically locking up with the bolt works link to prevent reopening of the door until the combination is entered again due to the bias of the lock bolt toward the link gate.

Abstract:

A double key changeable safety deposit lock includes a movable bolt and associated bolt plate including cam surfaces to be engaged and moved between open and closed positions by turning renter and guard keys in the lock, a plurality of gated tumbler renter key levers to be engaged by the renter key, a plurality of gated tumbler guard key levers to be engaged by the guard key, each of the levers being moved to align their respective gates to receive latch members on the bolt plate upon manipulation of the two keys to allow opening of the lock and wherein pivot means are provided for each lever including a plurality of individually selectable pivots such that the pivotal axis of each lever may be selectively varied to provide for different combinations of lever movement required by an associated key to align the associated gates. Releasable pivot selecting means are provided for normally engaging certain ones of the pivots of the levers which is rotatable to allow release of the lever pivots so that the levers may be moved to a new combination of positions by the insertion and manipulation of new renter and/or guard keys and then held in the new combination by re-engaging the pivot selecting means, also referred to as a fulcrum means, with the selected ones of the pivots whereby both keys for the double key lock are changeable.

Abstract:

A unique pulse forming network assembly designed for use with a laser flashlamp. The inventive assembly includes a planar printed circuit board (14) to which a plurality of electrical energy storage elements (L1, C1) are mounted. The energy storage elements (L1, C1) are mounted on one side of the primed circuit board (14) so that the electrical contacts thereof extend therethrough. The contacts are wave soldered to complete the assembly. In a specific embodiment, the planar mounting of the energy storage elements (L1, C1) is enabled by the substitution of a conventional relay (K1) with a field effect transistor (Q1). The FET selectively connects the energy storage elements (L1, C1) to an output terminal of the network to activate the flashlamp. In a more specific embodiment, at least one of the energy storage elements is a capacitor (C1) which is connected to the housing (16) by a flange (18). The network is assembled by mounting a plurality of electrical components on one side of the printed circuit board (14) so that electrical terminals extend through the board.

Abstract:

An electronic combination lock is disclosed which allows access to a closed or secure location wherein the lock includes a locking mechanism for operating between a locked condition and an unlocked condition. A rotatable cam wheel has a circumferential surface portion defining a slot such that rotation of the cam wheel moves the slot. A movable lever is coupled to the locking mechanism for changing the condition of the locking mechanism from the locked condition to the unlocked condition and is pivotably movable into and out of engagement with the cam wheel. The movable lever engages the cam wheel such that rotation of the cam wheel changes the condition of the locking mechanism. A cantilever and detent on the lever releasably maintain the lever in a position disengaged from the cam wheel. A solenoid and projectable detent moves the lever from its disengaged position for engaging the lever with the cam wheel so that rotation of the cam wheel changes the locking mechanism from the locked condition to the unlocked condition.

Abstract:

The tumbler wheels have a plurality of false gates, each having a width, depth and/or angular position feature which is a random value selected from within given circumferential, radial and/or angular locational limits, respectively, to foil sophisticated sound wave analyzers. Additonally, the wheel may include an outer periphery whose radius between pairs of adjacent gates is randomly variable within given limits. A method and apparatus for producing the random wheels in large batches includes spindling a large number of blank wheels on an arbor and randomly rotating the arbor selectively relative to a cutting tool which is randomly movable selectively in two axes.

Abstract:

A shooting bench including an upper cross member having legs pivotally attached thereto to allow for collapsing of the legs for carrying of the shooting bench. A brace secures one of the legs in an extended position during use of the bench. The other leg carries a rest member at its upper end which is adjustable for elevation by pivoting the leg about its pivotable attachment to the upper cross member.
