Paul Gingerich was just 12 years old when he pleaded guilty in adult court to murdering Phillip Danner in his home near Syracuse in 2010. He was the youngest person in Indiana history to be sentenced as an adult.The family of Phillip Danner says Gingerich's sentence is a slap on the wrist. Although he was originally sentenced as an adult, he hasn't spent any time in an adult prison facility. Now that's he's headed to know, Danner's family feels Gingerich won't be there long enough.
Judge James Heuer gave 15-year-old Paul Gingerich a 30-year sentence, with the final five years suspended, which is the same sentence Gingerich received in November 2010 in the death of Phillip Danner at his home near Lake Wawasee, about halfway between Fort Wayne and South Bend.
