Abstract:

A selectable frequency source for use in GPS receivers. A device in accordance with one or more embodiments of the present invention comprises at least one reference frequency source, a circuit, coupled to the at least one reference frequency source, and a mixer, coupled to an output of the circuit, for mixing a GPS signal with the output of the circuit, wherein a frequency output of the mixer is changed based on an input to the circuit.

Abstract:

A transceiver is disclosed having a zero intermediate frequency to low intermediate frequency receiver and a direct upconversion transmitter. Calibrations may be performed to minimize direct current voltage offset and in-phase and quadrature-phase path mismatch after downconversion. Automatic gain control is performed prior to downconversion and after upconversion to minimize the introduction of mismatch.

Abstract:

Algorithms are provided to adjust the gain and phase imbalance of I/Q modulators and demodulators. The imbalances are adjusted through an adjustment range and the corresponding image signal powers determined. The minimum image signal power identifies the calibration settings for the gain and phase imbalances.

Abstract:

A selectable frequency source for use in GPS receivers. A device in accordance with the present invention comprises a reference frequency source, a first divider, coupled to the reference frequency source, the first divider having a first dividing factor, a first mixer, coupled to the first divider, a filter, coupled to the first mixer, a voltage controlled oscillator, coupled to the filter, a second divider, coupled between the voltage controlled oscillator and the first mixer, the second divider having a second dividing factor, and a second mixer, coupled to an output of the voltage controlled oscillator, for mixing a GPS signal with the output of the voltage controlled oscillator, wherein at least one of the first dividing factor and the second dividing factor is changed to change a frequency output of the voltage controlled oscillator.

A dual-band GPS receiver and method and apparatus for downconversion of dual-band GPS signals. A dual-band GPS receiver in accordance with the present invention comprises an antenna, a Radio Frequency (RF) section, coupled to the antenna, and a baseband section, coupled to the RF section, wherein the RF section comprises a receiver, the receiver receiving signals from a first GPS frequency band and a second GPS frequency band, a local oscillator having a local oscillator frequency, and a mixer, coupled to the receiver and the local oscillator, for selectively mixing the local oscillator frequency with the first GPS frequency band and a second GPS frequency band, wherein the local oscillator frequency downconverts the first GPS frequency band and the second GPS frequency band into a common downconversion frequency band.

Abstract:
