Abstract:
Ultrasonic signals obtained at a range of angles are fit to a material independent model to derive both axial and lateral strain and thus parameters dependent on lateral strain including Poisson's ratio and shear strain.
Method For Adapting Fractionation Of A Radiation Therapy Dose
Weiguo Lu - Madison WI, US Mingli Chen - Madison WI, US Quan Chen - Madison WI, US Kenneth J. Ruchala - Madison WI, US Gustavo H. Olivera - Madison WI, US
A system and method of adapting a radiation therapy treatment plan for a patient by varying the fraction size delivered to the patient on any individual day, based at least partially on the use of daily patient registration (i. e. , taking images of the patient before each fraction is delivered to see the position and size of the tumor on that day). The fraction size can be dynamically altered based upon the biology of the tumor.

Abstract:
A system and method of detecting a breathing phase of a patient receiving radiation therapy is disclosed. The method, in one implementation, includes the acts of obtaining a plurality of patient images representing phases of a breathing cycle, delivering radiation to the patient, collecting transmission data of the patient during the delivering radiation, and comparing the transmission data to the plurality of patient images.

Abstract:
A method of calculating a dose distribution for a patient for use in a radiation therapy treatment plan. The method includes acquiring an image of a volume within the patient, defining a radiation source, and defining a reference plane oriented between the radiation source and the patient. The method also includes generating a radiation therapy treatment plan, wherein the plan includes a plurality of rays that extend between the radiation source and the patient volume, and calculating a three-dimensional dose volume for the patient volume from the plurality of rays that intersect the reference plane without first having to independently calculate a dose distribution on each of the plurality of rays. The method can also include displaying the three-dimensional dose volume.

Abstract:
A system and method of optimizing delivery of a radiation therapy treatment. The system optimizes treatment delivery in real-time to take into account a variety of factors, such as patient anatomical and physiological changes (e. g. , respiration and other movement, etc. ), and machine configuration changes (e. g. , beam output factors, couch error, leaf error, etc. ).

Abstract:
Elastographic images provide visualization in two or three dimensions of RF ablation lesions to guide in the ablation process. Compression may be applied using the RF probe. A similar technique may be applied to in vivo imaging of soft tissue without ablation.

Abstract:
A system and method for developing and analyzing radiation therapy treatment plans and a computer-generated user interface for presenting data relating to a radiation therapy treatment plan. The user interface includes a list of fractions identified in the treatment plan, data identifying delivery status of the fraction, and data identifying a processing status of the fraction. The system includes a computer processor, a data store connected to the computer processor and storing information relating to at least one fraction of a radiation therapy treatment plan, which fraction has been delivered to a patient as part of the implementation of the radiation therapy treatment plan, and software, stored in a computer readable medium accessible by the computer processor, the software being operable to automatically process the information relating to the at least one fraction.
