Abstract:
Electrical batteries are integrated with a disposable container of flowable material for powering a dispensing apparatus. The disposable container includes a deformable chamber for containing a predetermined quantity of material to be dispensed, and an electrically energized actuating member deforms the chamber for dispensing the flowable material. The dispensing apparatus is actuated by a photocell system which electrically energizes the actuating member in response to the proximity of a user to the dispensing apparatus without the user contacting the apparatus. The photocell system normally is inactive, and is rendered active by a sensor for detecting the proximity of a user to the apparatus.

Abstract:
The disclosure relates to an apparatus for dispensing sheet material such as paper towels. The dispensing apparatus when activated dispenses sheet material for a predetermined time which results in a predetermined length of sheet material being dispensed. The dispensing apparatus is actuated in response to the proximity of a portion of a hand of a user to the dispensing apparatus without the hand of a user contacting the apparatus. The dispensing apparatus dispenses sheet material from a roll of material by means of an electrical motor operating for a predetermined time to advance a predetermined length of the sheet material. The motor for advancing a predetermined length of the sheet material can be battery powered. The housing of the dispensing apparatus has a modular frame having a first compartment for the means for advancing the sheet material and a second compartment for the means for activating the advancing means. The dispensing apparatus can include means for storing energy for energizing the advancing means in response to the withdrawal of sheet material from the dispensing apparatus by a user.

Abstract:
An illumination device, for example, a flashlight includes an adjustable beam focus assembly to change the relative position of the lamp bulb to the reflector to alternately provide a narrow focused or wide beam being emitted from the device. The adjustable beam focus assembly includes a resilient blade supporting the lamp bulb extending through an opening in a reflector of the device. Beam focusing is achieved by flexing the blade upon application of a displacing force to the base of the bulb by a cam or to the blade itself using a plunger.

Abstract:
Disclosed are apparatus and methods for simulating a control system such as an aircraft flight control system. Image generating and display apparatus for use in conjunction with the simulated control system are disclosed. Also disclosed are apparatus and a method for simulating a movable control such as an aircraft control wheel or rudder pedals for a system in which force and movement parameters of the control can be varied in accordance with simulated operation of the system. A lever having an adjustably positioned fulcrum is utilized in the simulation of the movable control. The application further discloses a flight simulator having a pilot's console and an instructor's console interconnected by a computer. The simulator enables the pilot to "fly" an aircraft while permitting the instructor and computer to introduce various different flight and aircraft conditions into the flight simulator.
Method And Apparatus For Simultaneous And Continuous Delivery Of Liquids From A Plurality Of Individual Containers To A Dispensing Device

Abstract:
The present invention provides a method and apparatus for continuous delivery of a liquid from individual liquid holding containers to a common discharge outlet. A bulk package is adapted to removably store a plurality of sealed liquid containers in predetermined positions within the package. The top surface of the package defines a plurality of openings for exposing the tops of the individual containers stored within the package. A removable lid includes a plurality of sharp discharge outlets or hollow spikes corresponding in number and disposed in alignment with the openings defined on the top surface of the package. The sharp discharge outlets extend from the lower surface of the lid, and are employed to puncture the openings in the individual containers stored within the package. The lid itself defines a hollow chamber providing a reservoir for receiving the flow of liquid from the individual containers. A harness support is provided to encase the outer periphery of the package and includes a clamp for driving the top lid into the upper surface of the package for puncturing the sealed openings of the individual containers stored within the package.

Abstract:
Improved, compact apparatus for use in inhaling pharmaceutical aerosols. The apparatus increases aerosol deposition to the bronchiolus while it limits deposition in the oropharynx. The volumetric flow rate is limited by the use of orifices in the far end of the rigid holding chamber. The invention is also designed to make it easy for the patient to inhale the medication at the proper point in his respiratory cycle. Besides the rigid holding chamber the apparatus of the invention utilizes a unique and compact integrated flow meter to deliver to the patient a volume of unmedicated ambient air before the inhalation of the medicine containing aerosol. When the apparatus is not in use, it folds up, so that some of the integrated flow meter apparatus, and the mouthpiece are located inside the rigid holding chamber thereby minimizing the size of the device.

Abstract:
A holding device for medication containers of essentially any size or shape provides the patient with the last time the medicine was taken and includes a housing with a cylindrical cup shape opening with a micro switch member extending through an access opening into the cavity form one side of the opening. Individual positioning devices in the form of vertical open cylindrical tubes are sized to fit particular containers with the cylinders positioned proximate the switch member with an opening to allow the switch member to extend into the cylindrical bore opening. A bushing and interlocking tab index the position of each cylindrical tube in the correct position each time the positioning device is inserted into the base section of holding device. The sensor signal that a container is placed in the base is used to provide through numerical display the time the last medication was taken, the elapsed time since that dose and the number of times the medication was accessed in one day. A settable alarm is provided to alert the patient as to the next time to take the medicine.
