Abstract:
A distillate fuel feed is hydrotreated to remove heteroatoms and then separated into light and heavy hydrotreated fractions, with the heavy fraction catalytically dewaxed to improve low temperature properties. The hydrotreating and dewaxing are conducted in separate stages, which may be in the same reactor vessel. Fresh hydrogen may be passed into the dewaxing stage, with the dewaxing stage gaseous effluent then passed into the hydrotreating stage to provide hydrogen for the hydrotreating. Existing hydrotreating reaction vessels and facilities may be retrofitted to add one or more dewaxing stages.

Abstract:
This invention relates to reactors with mitigation of fouling-related pressure buildup, the reactors having a reactor bed containing at least one catalyst layer through which reactants flow. The mitigation of fouling which occurs at the top of the reactor bed is accomplished by using at least one blowback ring located near the top of the reactor bed.

Multiple Spot-Beam Systems For Satellite Communications

Abstract:
On-board satellite switching is performed in three stages, an outer stage of switching on the up-link side for routing the received signals to either demodulators or frequency translators, a first inner stage of switching, preferably a baseband switch and processor, for routing and processing the outputs of the demodulators, a second inner stage of switching, e. g. , a microwave switch matrix, for routing the outputs of the frequency translators, and an outer stage on the down-link side for assembling and routing the down-link spot beams. For a multiple hopping-beam system, the outer stages are microwave switch matrices, and for a hybrid scanning-hopping system the outer stages are beam forming matrices. A general purpose modified rearrangeable switch matrix is also disclosed.
Highly reliable, light-weight, and low power-consuming microwave redundancy and re-routing electronic switches suitable for on-board satellite applications permit rearranging of communication paths for up- and down-link communications and re-routing of microwave signals to redundant devices in the event of on-board hardware failures.
Microwave Digitally Controlled Solid-State Attenuator Having Parallel Switched Paths
An attenuator element has a reference path and a relative attenuation path. The reference path is formed by a T-network of two FETs operated in the passive mode and a shunt path and the attenuation path is formed with a similar structure, with the FETs in the shunt path having a different channel width. Instead of a T-network, a Pi-network of transistors can be used. The respective gates of the FETs along the reference path are connected to a first control input corresponding to either zero volts or the pinch-off voltage and the respective gates of the transistors on the attenuation path are connected to a complementary control input having a voltage corresponding to the other of zero volts and the pinch-off voltage. Another type of attenuator element is formed with a reference path having a transmission line and an attenuation path formed by a resistive T-network, with the attenuation and reference paths being alternately selectable by two single pole, double throw switches. The switches can also be formed by FETs operated in the passive mode, and be controlled by a control signals corresponding to either zero volts or the pinch-off voltage.
Rapid Consolidation And Compaction Method For Soil Improvement Of Various Layers Of Soils And Intermediate Geomaterials In A Soil Deposit
The rapid consolidation and compaction method comprises (i) first driving a hollow pipe, (ii) driving a pipe with a removable end plate after filling and compacting the sandy material in it, through the hollow pipe, to required depth, creating high excess pore-water pressures in the range of 50 to 300 KPa in clayey soils, (iv) pulling out the pipe section leaving behind the removable end plate and thereby installing porous displacement piles which allows dissipation of the excess pore-water pressures horizontally to the porous displacement pile, in which the excess water flows out vertically to the ground surface, and (v) the length of the drainage path is reduced to half the spacing between adjoining porous displacement piles, allowing rapid consolidation resulting in increase in density. Installing the porous displacement piles in the layer of loose to medium dense sand layer results in the instantaneous increase in its density.

Live: 'Even God gives a second chance' pleads Delhi rape convict's mother
Senior counsel Ramesh Gupta explains to TOI why the convicts should be awarded the death sentence. In this case there is no doubt the victim was subjected to horrific torture and brutality that led to her death. In my view, for sheer brutality it qualifies to be a case fit for death penalty.
Ramesh Gupta, counsel for A. Raja and R.K. Chandolia, told the court that Mr. Raja cooperated with the CBI during the agency's searches at his residence on December 8 and 15 and appeared before it for questioning four times on December 24 and 25, January 31 and February 2.
