Abstract:

A method is provided for applying a layer () of material to a surface of a non-metallic substrate () to enhance a performance characteristic. The method includes applying glass backing () to the non-metallic substrate () and cold spraying mica or boron nitride (BN) particles () onto a surface of the glass backing (). A conductive tape is also provided, which is formed with the method. The conductive tape includes a first layer of an insulation material (′), where the first layer is formed from a backing including a fiber-based or polymer backing with resilient and flexible properties for storage in a rolled form and a layer of mica particles or boron nitride particles. The conductive tape further includes a second layer (′) positioned over the layer of particles, and formed from an electrical conductor material.

Abstract:

An automated truss module for the support, transport and storage of lighting instruments is comprised of an upper luminaire mounting platform for mounting the lighting instruments and a separable transport support fixture. A truss section assembly, capable of being suspended above a performance area, is comprised of the upper luminaire mounting platform mounted to a section of box truss by utilizing helical isolators that provide a study cushion against shock and limit the transfer of vibration between the upper luminaire mounting platform and the box truss. The truss section assembly utilizes a motorized drive assembly to facilitate the transfer of the lighting instruments between a protected transport position, and a deployed position extending the lighting instruments below the truss section assembly for operation. Interchangeable adaptors for accommodating various types of lighting instruments are utilized for mounting the lighting instruments to the upper luminaire mounting platform. The transport support fixture may be secured by means of a latch arrangement to the upper luminaire mounting platform during transportation and storage of the truss section assembly with the mounted lighting instruments.

Abstract:

A lighting truss utilizes a drive assembly to facilitate movement of lighting instruments between a protected transport position and a deployed position, extending the lighting instruments below the truss for operation. Once deployed, means are provided for spreading the lighting instruments apart from one another to allow unimpeded pan and tilt operation of the lighting instruments and allow for storage of the lighting instruments in a relatively small truss.

Abstract:

A process and a system for welding rotor coils are presented. A plurality of rotor coils are arranged on a table of a machine. A welding tool welds the rotor coils on one end using a Friction Stir Welding process. Transition pieces are each arranged between the rotor coils to create a continuous welding path. A run-off tab is placed at an end of the welding path. The welding tool is changed to a milling tool after completion of the welding. The milling tool traces back along the welding path to separate the rotor coils. The milling tool may be changed to the welding tool to repeat the process for another end of the rotor coils. The process is completely automatic and controlled by a control unit.
