Boeing warns of more cost cutting and possibly layoffs
BCA already has slimmed ranks by 8 percent this year through a mix of buyouts and by not filling empty positions. That includes cutting the number of executives and managers by 10 percent, the outgoing head of BCA, Ray Conner, and his successor, Kevin McAllister, said in the message.
But the announcement shows the world's biggest plane maker is cutting jobs more aggressively than it forecast earlier this year, and that the pressure will not abate under new airplanes Chief Executive Kevin McAllister, who succeeded Ray Conner on Nov. 21. Conner is now vice chairman.
Kevin McAllister, who served as chief of GE Aviation Services, the support arm of its big aircraft engine business, is to take over the unit immediately and replace Ray Conner, who was its head for more than four years.
