Diamond blasted with laser to decode giant planets` core
"Since diamonds are made of carbon, understanding how this material behaves at high pressures can be important in the study of planets around other stars," said lead researcher and physicist Raymond Smith.
"Diamonds have very special properties, besides being very expensive and used for jewelrey etc.," says Raymond Smith, a researcher at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California. "It's the hardest substance known to man."
There were two other B.C. fatalities before 2002. Two years earlier, John Ames, a hang-gliding student, had a heart attack in the air. That crash, at the Fort Langley sea plane base, killed Ames and instructor Raymond Smith.
"People are really good about donating too sometimes. On today, they'll get five or six blizzards and put some in the freezer just to help out the kids for the hospital," said Raymond Smith, owner of Cornersburg Dairy Queen.
