A method and apparatus for configuring a plurality of computers, each of which requires interaction with at least one resource to advance a configuration state of the computer. A request for access to a resource may be received from at least one of the computers, and a resource needed may be determined. An availability of the resource needed may be determined, and the computer instructed to interact with the resource if the resource is available. If the resource is not available, the computer may be caused to not interact with the resource.

Abstract:
Remote differential compression is integrated within applications. Objects are updated between two or more computing devices using remote differential compression (RDC) techniques such that required data transfers are minimized. An algorithm provides enhanced efficiencies for allowing the receiver to locate a set of objects that are similar to the object that needs to be transferred from the sender. Once this set of similar objects has been found, the receiver may reuse any chunks from these objects during the RDC algorithm.

Abstract:
An audio system having an improved sound field by generating a center audio channel from left and right stereo channels. The center channel is preferably generated by summing the left and right channels, and then filtering the resulting output. The center channel signal is also combined with the left and right channel signals to remove a portion of the monophonic information from the left and right channels thereby maintaining a constant level of monophonic information in the sound field.
