Abstract:

When configuring multiple patient monitors () in a healthcare environment, configuration is simplified and setup time is reduced by employing barcoded configuration information that is scanned into the monitors () using a barcode scanner (). A first monitor () is configured by selectively scanning one or more barcodes contained in a configuration booklet. Once the first monitor () is configured, its configuration information is stored and printed in barcoded format. The printed barcodes are then scanned into a second patient monitor (), without requiring the user to navigate the configuration barcode booklet a second time. Additionally, a patient's ID barcode is printed on vital signs records generated by the monitor, such as by a strip chart recorder or printer ().

Abstract:

When monitoring a patient (), objective data is readily collected using a vital signs monitor (VSM) () coupled to the patient () via a plurality of sensors (). Subjective data, such as the appearance of a rash, wound or dressing, facial pallor or flush, facial expression indicative of pain, and the like, are additionally captured using an imager () coupled to the VSM (). The imager () can be a two-dimensional barcode reader that captures a digital image of the patient () or portion thereof and relays the image data to the VSM (). Images and patient vital sign data are then stored to an electronic medical record () and presented to a user or physician. Additionally, a standard reference color plate () with an optional barcode () can be placed on or near the patient (), and the patient () and SCP () can be imaged. The imaged SCP () is then employed as a reference to perform color correction to permit a reviewing physician to evaluate the image for diagnosis.

Abstract:

This invention relates to low transient switching apparatus, and more particularly to switching arrays of low transient switching circuits which are adapted for use to substantially continuously focus transducer channel outputs in an ultrasonic scanning system. A separate switching array is provided for each channel. Each array has a switching circuit with an output for each focusing delay line tap to which a signal on the channel may be applied. Each switching circuit provides a substantially constant D. C. current output regardless of the state of the circuit. Array outputs for each delay line tap are summed, and the summed outputs are applied as the input to the tap. The DC current inputs to all taps are maintained substantially equal, preferably at zero DC current.
