Remote Substance Identification And Location Method And System
John Nutting - Edmonds WA, US Richard A. Daniel - Kingston WA, US
International Classification:
G01N 27/00
US Classification:
324 711, 3241581
Abstract:
This invention relates to a method and system for remote detection of a targeted substance by the appropriate application of a probing signal that induces molecular resonance in the target substance to create an identifiable signature or response. In the preferred embodiment, signals transmitted are an Infrared laser beam, amplitude modulated in the range of 100 kHz frequency. The probing signal stimulates molecular resonance of the target substance which produces characteristic electron signal responses that are detected by IR detectors. A software program is used to process the electrical response signals and to compare them with electrical response signals stored in a database of known substances, thus allowing the target substance to be identified. The system may also be used to locate targeted substances.

Abstract:
A remote transmitter system including a control station and a remote trantter station. The control station includes a variable frequency oscillator, a modulator, a parallel to series digital data converter and a DC power supply. The remote transmitter station comprises a power storage circuit, a phase-locked-loop demodulator, a local oscillator, a modulator and a power amplifier. The variable frequency oscillator provides two signals f. sub. o and f. sub. 1 that are harmonics of each other and are in-phase. These signals modulate the 0's and 1's of digital data that is transmitted along a coaxial cable to the phase-locked-loop demodulator that provides a control signal to the local oscillator and the modulated digital data signal (f. sub. o, f. sub. 1) to the modulator. The local oscillator generates two signals f. sub. A and f. sub.
Lightning Ground System Attachable Admittance Testing Instrument

International Classification:
G01R 3102 G01R 2700
US Classification:
324 51
Abstract:
An instrument for measuring the resistive and reactive components of eleccal circuits without physical contact or breaking the circuits. The instrument consists of a transmitter, a receiver, a sensor head, a power supply, and a display. The sensor head is constructed of two transformer cores split and hinged so that it can be closed around part of the circuit to be tested. One transformer core is driven by an oscillator and induces ac voltage in the test circuit. Current flow depends upon the electrical characteristics, admittance, of the test circuit. The other transformer core acts as a receiver and its output is an ac voltage proportional to the current flowing in the test circuit. The ac signal is detected using a synchronous detector with reference derived from the transmitter, either in phase to measure the resistive component, or with a 90. degree. phase shift to measure the reactive component.
Method Of Making Tuned Resonance Passive Electronic Filters
The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Navy - Washington DC
International Classification:
H03H 710 H03H 714
US Classification:
333 70R
Abstract:
A method for making tuned resonance passive electronic filters. The method consists of computing the values of the filter components and then using standard unmatched components that approximate the computed values in conjunction with certain components that are made variable for the purpose of tuning out the unmatched characteristics of the unmatched components. A typical filter may include several poles where each pole includes an unmatched component, such as a capacitor, and a variable component such as an inductor. Adjacent poles may be coupled by unmatched or variable inductors or capacitors. Each pole is tuned for resonance by applying the output of a signal generator to a particular pole, while shorting adjacent poles, and tuning the variable component of that pole for resonance. Resonance may be indicated by a null on an a. c. voltmeter connected to measure pole.

US Classification:

Abstract:
An decoding system for transmitting a signal through a noisy, unstable, mipath environment, in which the signal consisting of eight possible symbols is encoded using four of eight possible frequencies in an orthogonal Hadamard matrix, transmitted through the environment, and decoded using the same orthogonal Hadamard matrix, thereby providing a correlation result which can compensate for at least one error in the received signal for each symbol.
