Abstract:

A wall mountable holder system may include a holder-mounting substrate having a plurality of mounting positions and at least one holder removably coupleable to the substrate. The holder may include a base portion, a plurality of protrusions extending rearwardly from the base portion, a first arm and a second arm extending outward from the base, a tab extending inward at a distal end of at least one of the arms, and at least one groove extending downwardly from an upper edge of at least one of the arms. Each tab may include a leading surface angled inward and rearward from proximate the distal end, and a trailing surface angled outward and rearward from the leading surface. An opening may be formed between the arms, proximate the distal ends, and the opening may be narrower than a spacing between the arms at each point between the base portion and the opening.

Abstract:

Apparatus for providing metered lengths of adhesive bearing strips, from a supply roll, to a mechanism for fixing each of the metered strips to a different one of a plurality of stacks of sheets comprises: a pair of rollers providing a nip, and means for rotating one of the rollers to advance adhesive strip engaged by the nip. The axial length of the nip is smaller than the width of the adhesive bearing strip and the strip includes a hole which is larger than the nip, the hole being located near the end of the roll. As a result, when the hole is advanced into the nip by the rollers the rollers stop feeding the adhesive bearing strip to the mechanism.

Abstract:

A screw type anchor device for securement into masonry structures. A sharp crested helical thread, preferably with tapering crest diameter, is formed along the shank and helical protuberances forming guide means are spaced along the shank between adjacent convolutions of the helical thread. Notches are formed on the crests of the helical thread along the length of the shank to facilitate embedment of the crests in the walls of a performed bore in the masonry structure.

Abstract:

A fastener and a nosepiece for use in attaching lath to a support. The fastener includes a screw and a spacing element, in which the spacing element is adapted to threadingly penetrate the lath and abut the support. The lath is retained between the spacing element and the head of the screw and is thereby held away from the support in order to allow plaster to properly extrude through openings in the lath. The nosepiece is attachable to a driving tool and has rigid prongs which reach through openings in the lath. Travel of a bit on the driving tool is limited so that automatic disengagement occurs to prevent over-driving of the screw. The prongs ensure that the lath is held a predetermined distance from the support.

Abstract:

In a hammer-strikable, powder-actuated, fastener-driving tool, a breech block is mounted within a generally tubular body by several resilient shock absorber structures, each including an elastomeric grommet, an eyelet having a tubular portion surrounded by the grommet and an annular portion, a washer interposed between the annular portion and one end of the grommet, and a screw attaching the breech block to the body. The screw shank extends through the grommet. The screw head bears against the washer. The breech block mounts a firing pin, which is biased backwardly to a normal position, and to which a hammer-strikable button is connected. A barrel, mounted upon the body so as to be axially movable with respect thereto, has an elongate slot. A stud mounted upon the body extends through the slot. A washer disposed around the stud is biased against the barrel so as to impart frictional drag to the barrel.

Abstract:

The present invention is a fastener assembly including a row of fasteners maintained in position by a carrier. The carrier includes a plurality of adjacent sleeves, each of which includes an upper breakable portion, a middle wall portion, and a lower breakable portion. When a fastener is driven into a work piece, the upper and middle portions of the fastener sleeve break away and the lower portion breaks into fragments, so that no residual sleeve parts remain with the fastener. This is accomplished by forming the carrier from a mixture of a stiff polyolefin material and a particulate filler to impart the necessary brittleness to the carrier sleeves. Also, the lower portion of the sleeve includes fragmentable tabs joined at wall junctions which are structurally weaker than the tabs, to facilitate fragmentation between the tabs.
