Abstract:

An integrated circuit system and method provides a reliable low voltage reference including undervoltage lockout capabilities that prevent a premature or false response. A physical constant trigger circuit initiates a response based upon a physical constant (e. g. a stable point associated with a voltage summation in a transistor circuit with components configured to produce equal and opposite temperature coefficients). A response includes changing polarities of the transistor circuit at a predetermined inflection point. A comparator compares signals from the physical constant trigger circuit and determines when a change occurs in the response. A voltage divider provides a varying voltage to the physical constant trigger and when the voltage level corresponds to the physical constant it is utilized as the reference voltage. An input signal port conveys an input signal to the voltage divider and output port conveys an indication of the response (e. g. , a desired reference voltage is available).

Abstract:

A circuit is arranged to provide a thermal shutdown signal in response to an overtemperature condition. The thermal shutdown circuit is typically implemented in the same die as the circuitry that is to be protected. The thermal shutdown circuit provides a first current in response to a change in temperature when a VBE associated with a transistor decreases below a predetermined level. The first current is mirrored to provide a scaled current. A thermal shutdown signal is activated when the scaled current becomes greater than a reference current. The first current is increased in response to the activated thermal shutdown signal such that the thermal shutdown circuit is deactivated at a temperature that is lower than the temperature at which the circuit is activated. The thermal shutdown circuit is deactivated when the temperature of the die decreases.

Abstract:

An electronic and computerized system that coalesces write operations using a buffer cache which stores data waiting to be written back to a disk of the electronic and computerized system is described. Dirty data blocks with consecutive data block addresses in the buffer cache are coalesced and written to the disk together. The disk head movements for performing the disk IOs are significantly reduced, thereby allowing the electronic and computerized system to maintain a high IO throughput and high peak performance with fewer disks.

Abstract:

A charge pump is provided. The charge pump may include an oscillator, a first switch, a second switch, a capacitor/switch network, an error amplifier, an adjustable resistance circuit, a first switch driver, and a second switch driver. In one embodiment, the first and second drivers each receive the oscillator voltage, and drive the first and second switches, respectively. Further, the adjustable resistance circuit is connected in series with the first and second switch circuits. The charge pump is arranged in a closed loop with the error amplifier driving the adjustable resistance circuit. The resistance of the adjustable resistance circuit is modulated to regulate the output voltage.

Abstract:

A computer system having a kernel for mapping virtual memory address space to physical memory address space. The computer system uses a method for performing an input/output operation. A physical memory buffer is registered with a subsystem, and the physical memory buffer is associated with a first virtual address, a size and a key. The physical memory buffer is dynamically associated with a second virtual address which is different from the first virtual address. As part of an application program an input/output operation is requested regarding the second virtual address. An application table is used to obtain the first virtual address, the key and the size. The first virtual address, the key and the size are supplied to the subsystem. The subsystem uses the first virtual address, the key and the size, to determine the physical memory buffer and performs an input/output operation using the physical memory buffer without intervention of the kernel.

Abstract:

A computer-implemented method of implementing a network file system may include steps of providing a host, the host including an Operating System (OS) that includes a kernel and a first client implementing the Network File System (NFS) protocol in the kernel, and a database server process. A second NFS client may be provided in the database server process. A NFS server may be provided, coupled to the host. A device implementing the Network Attached Storage (NAS) protocol may also be provided, coupled to the NFS server. NFS requests to access data stored in the NAS server may then be generated and sent from the second NFS client in the database server process directly to the NFS server, bypassing the first NFS client in the OS kernel of the host. NFS File handles obtained by one database process may be shared with other database processes through a shared memory area.
