Abstract:

An anchor assembly and a method of installing the same so as to secure an object to an underlying substructure comprises an insert member having an internally threaded bore, and an externally threaded headed bolt member for threaded engagement within said threaded bore of the insert member. A through-bore is formed within the object to be secured to the substructure, and the insert is inserted into the lower end portion of the through-bore, while the bolt member is inserted into the upper end portion of the through-bore whereby the bolt and insert members are threaded together. If the object is to be secured to a freshly poured batch of concrete material which will form the underlying substructure when the same hardens and sets, the lower end portion of the insert member is inserted into the freshly poured concrete which is then permitted to harden and set, whereas if the object is to be secured to an existing concrete foundation, a bore is formed within the concrete foundation, adhesive is deposited within the bore, and the insert member is inserted into the adhesive material which is then permitted to harden and set.

Abstract:

An anchor assembly and a method of installing the same so as to secure an object to an underlying substructure comprises an insert member having an internally threaded bore, and an externally threaded headed bolt member for threaded engagement within the threaded bore of the insert member. A through-bore is formed within the object to be secured to the substructure, and the bolt member is inserted into the upper end portion of the through-bore so as to be threadedly engaged with the insert member which is disposed in abutted contact with the undersurface of the object as an assembly when the object is to be secured to a freshly poured concrete substructure. If the object is to be secured to an existing concrete foundation, an anchor assembly comprising the bolt member, a sleeve member, and the insert member is initially assembled, a bore is in effect simultaneously formed within both the object and the concrete foundation so that the bores within such components are coaxially aligned with respect to each other, adhesive is deposited within the bore of the concrete substructure, and the anchor assembly is inserted through the object and into the bore of the substructure such that the insert member is immersed within the adhesive material which is then permitted to harden and set.

Abstract:

A threaded anchor which comprises a threaded shank portion, a tip portion defined upon one end of the threaded shank portion, and a head portion disposed adjacent to the opposite end of the threaded shank portion. The head portion comprises a hexagonally configured drive section for threadedly driving the threaded anchor into a substrate. Abstract:

Cleaning implement apparatus for cleaning boreholes formed within various different substrates, such as, for example, concrete slabs, concrete blocks, bricks, or the like, comprises a first embodiment for use within a power-operated tool, such as for example, a roto-hammer type power tool for drilling boreholes within concrete or brick substrates, while a second embodiment of the apparatus comprises a manually-operated tool. The first embodiment comprises a bit member having a slotted drive shank (SDS) connection for mounting within the chuck mechanism of the roto-hammer type power tool. In this manner, the same roto-hammer type power tool can be used for both drilling the borehole within the substrate as well as for cleaning the borehole by exchanging the cleaning implement for the drill bit.

Abstract:

An electrolocation apparatus is provided for locating a nerve to which anesthesia may be delivered. The apparatus includes a needle assembly having an electrically conductive needle cannula non-conductive tube secured over the needle cannula, and a conductive plating on the tube. The conductors are connected to a stimulator that generates alternating high and low charge pulses with a constant low current level. The high charge pulses generate noticeable muscle twitches immediately after insertion of the needle into the patient. Muscle twitches responsive to the high charge pulses will peak in magnitude, and muscle twitches responsive to the low charge pulses will become observable as the needle approaches the targeted nerve, and will be indistinguishable from the muscle twitches responsive to the high charge pulses when the needle is in a position for administration of anesthetic.

A needle shielding cushion is provided with a generally planar base wall having a plurality of filaments projecting unitarily therefrom. Abstract:

A shield assembly is provided for a needle cannula of a hypodermic syringe. The shield assembly includes inner and outer shield. The inner shield includes a guard selectively movable between a proximal position which permits use of needle cannula and a distal position which safely covers the tip of the needle cannula. The outer shield is frictionally and removably positioned over the needle cannula when the inner shield is in its proximal position. Movement of the inner shield to its distal shielding position enables alignment of cooperating locking structure on the inner shield and outer shield with one another for permanently securely locking the outer shield over the needle cannula.

Abstract:

A self-contained electrolocation apparatus of the present invention includes an electrically conducting needle cannula having a proximal end, a distal end and a hollow bore therethrough. The invention further includes a non-conductive tube having a proximal end and a distal end, the tube being mounted over the needle cannula so that the distal end of the non-conductive tube is proximal to the distal end of the needle cannula. The non-conductive tube has a conductive layer thereon, whereby the needle cannula and the conductive layer respectively define first and second conductors coaxially spaced from one another by the non-conductive tube. There is a grip fixedly attached to the needle cannula for manipulating the apparatus. The grip has an electrical stimulus generator circuit within it that is electrically connected to the first conductor and the second conductor. The stimulus generator circuit is capable of applying a potential across the conductors so that when the needle is positioned in a patient's tissue and the electrical stimulus generator circuit is activated, the potential is sufficient to induce a preselected current thereby providing a charge pulse between the distal end of the conductive layer and the distal end of said needle cannula through the patient's tissue.
