Abstract:
A digital capture system, such as a digital still camera or digital video recorder, has an embedded real-time content-based analysis function in the capture device to extract metadata from the digital signals. In one embodiment, metadata (descriptive information about the digital content) is formatted and stored separately from the content. In another embodiment, the metadata may be formatted and combined with the digital content in a container format such as MPEG-7, QuickTime, or FlashPix.

Abstract:
One aspect of the invention is directed to a system and method for a digital capture system, such as a digital encoder, having an embedded real-time content-based analysis function in the capture device to extract metadata from the digital signals. In one embodiment, metadata (descriptive information about the digital content) is formatted and stored separately from the content. In another embodiment, the metadata may be formatted and combined with the digital content in a container format such as MPEG-7, QuickTime, or FlashPix. Digital encoding mechanisms, both pure hardware and hardware/software combinations, convert an analog video signal into a digitally encoded video bitstream. The system extracts metadata in real-time during the encoding process.

Abstract:
A system and method that provides a hosted network video guide application. The guide application is provided as a service to web portals and other websites that wish to expose access to the video content available on a public network such as the Internet. The operation of the guide includes mechanisms for search application hosting and processes for content gathering. Video index information can be derived from random content owners, guide affiliates, proactively gathered public domain content, and proactively harvested video content from the network via a video spidering mechanism. The video index information can be collected and maintained in a hosted, centralized repository and made available via an application interface, which can be customized, to users of the network. The video spidering mechanism generates an index of each accessed video, and the index is committed to the guide repository along with the URL information of the video being indexed.

Abstract:
A system and method for applying a database to video multimedia is disclosed. Certain embodiments provide media content owners the capability to exploit video processing capabilities using rich, interactive and compelling visual content on a network. Mechanisms of associating video with commerce offerings are provided. Video server and search server technologies are integrated with ad serving personalization agents to make the final presentations of content and advertising. Algorithms utilized by the system use a variety of techniques for making the final presentation decisions of which ads, with which content, are served to which user.

Abstract:
A memory system for a computer detects data errors, address errors and operation errors to increase the reliability of data stored in the memory system. Address errors are detected by encoding address parity information into the data check field of each memory location. A signal is generated in each memory module indicating the status of operations of that memory module and is transmitted to the processor subsystem of the computer for comparison with a signal indicating the status of operations of the processor subsystem to insure that all memory modules and the memory control in the processor are receiving the same commands.
