An oil control system and regulator for controlling the oil level in the crankcase of one or more refrigeration compressors or the like are disclosed. The regulator comprises a shell and end cap closures defining a closed chamber for containing the oil. An inlet extends through one of the end cap closures and includes a float controlled valve for admitting liquid to the chamber as necessary to maintain the oil level in the chamber and compressor crankcases and also includes a piston which is movable up and down to adjust the float and the oil level in the regulator chamber. A threaded adjusting pin extends through the end cap closure and into the chamber and threads on the adjusting pin are threaded through a coupling bracket which couples the pin with the piston to move the piston, float and valve for adjusting the oil level.

Abstract:
A valve stem and disc for a disc-type valve assembly are held together by a retaining ring and constructed such that they may be assembled inside a valve housing while avoiding the possibility of the retaining ring binding upon either the stem or disc during assembly. The valve stem includes a truncated conical portion forming its distal end which acts to align the various valve members during assembly. In the method, the retaining ring is mounted on the valve disc first rather than on the valve stem. When the truncated conical end of the valve stem is inserted in the disc so as to spread the retaining ring until mating engagement is reached between the stem, the disc, and the retaining ring. The diameter of the truncated stem distal end is sized to preclude any binding on the retainer ring or disc during assembly.

Abstract:
A refillable filter-drier assembly for use in a refrigerant line. The assembly includes a shell or casing which houses a replaceable core having a central bore and which may be a filter, drier or strainer element or any combination thereof. Refrigerant enters the shell adjacent one end and occupies the space surrounding the core. The liquid passes inwardly through the core into the central bore and exits the casing from the end opposite from which it enters. The core is supported in spaced relationship with respect to the casing interior by an annular cage on the outlet end of the core and by an end closure cage on its opposite end. Both the annular cage and the end closure cage have resilient fingers which grip the core adjacent its opposite ends. Both the annular cage and the end closure cage also have pluralities of laterally extending lugs which support the core in its spaced relationship within the casing.
