A belt construction provided, the belt construction comprising a tensile member intermediate the opposed sides of the belt construction, a plurality of teeth defining one of the opposed sides of the belt construction and being mainly formed of a first polymeric material that has reinforcing fibers therein, the belt construction having a land area between adjacent teeth, and a backing member defining the other of the opposed sides of the belt construction, the backing member being mainly formed from a second polymeric material that is initially separate from the material of the teeth and is substantially free of fibers therein, the material of the backing member having a surface that joins with a surface of each tooth whereby the joining surfaces define an interface line therebetween, the interface line in each land area having a portion thereof disposed spaced from the tensile member on the side thereof opposite to the side thereof that faces toward the teeth.

Abstract:

A belt construction and method of making the same are provided, the belt construction having opposed sides and comprising a plurality of teeth defining one of the opposed sides of the belt construction and being mainly formed of a first polymeric material that has reinforcing fibers therein, each tooth having opposed sides that are disposed in spaced relation to adjacent sides of adjacent teeth, the belt construction having a land area between adjacent teeth, and a backing member defining the other of the opposed sides of the belt construction, the backing member being mainly formed from a second polymeric material that is initially separate from the material of the teeth. The method comprises the steps of providing a grooved drum, disposing the first polymeric material in a non-cured form thereof about the drum, then subjecting the drum to heat and pressure to cause the first material to be forced toward the drum and exude into the grooves to at least partially form the teeth, then substantially immediately cooling the first material and the drum to stop the curing of the first material so that the first material is generally in a non-cured condition, then disposing the second material in a non-cured form thereof about the first material on the drum, and then again subjecting the drum to heat and pressure to cause the first and second material to be forced toward the drum to complete any remaining unfinished portion of the teeth and be cured together to form the belt construction.

A fuel dispensing system has a venturi section for removing liquid from a normal drape area of a hose assembly of the system and the venturi section has an inlet unit that is positioned in a vapor recovery fluid passage of the hose assembly generally at the actual drape area of the hose assembly even when the actual drape area is disposed intermediate the normal drape area and a nozzle or is disposed intermediate the normal drape area and the source of liquid fuel as well as when the actual drape area is disposed generally at the normal drape area, the inlet unit comprising a tube unit interconnected to the venturi section and having a plurality of inlets respectively disposed in different axial positions in the vapor recovery fluid passage along the length thereof.

Wall systems are disclosed which employ a plurality of individual panels formed of extruded polymeric material joined in edge-to-edge relation including wale members which are vertically offset and interlocked at end portions thereof with adjacent wale members. The wall systems include connector elements for joining and interlocking the adjacent panel edges, and panels are disclosed, each having a continuous convex surface between their opposite side edges and strengthening ribs formed on a concave surface disposed opposite the convex surface thereof. A revetment system is disclosed in which a pair of wall sections are positioned in facing spaced-apart relation and joined by tie bolts extending through the wale members, to receive concrete therebetween.
