Abstract:

The invention is directed to a muscle trainer and method for exercising a weaker of two opposing muscle groups of a person swinging an implement, such as a golf club, wherein, if the two opposing muscle groups were of appropriate strength, the two muscle groups would desirably apply forces in opposite directions to the implement to assist in maintaining the implement in an ideal club shaft plane. The contemplated muscle trainer of this invention includes a body having a grip surface located thereon, and a force generator positioned at a prescribed location on the body, which is spaced from the grip surface, for urging the prescribed location of the body in a direction away from a force direction which the weaker muscle would normally apply to the implement in the swinging thereof by the person. The invention further contemplates a method exercising at least a dominated muscle of two opposing muscles typically used by the golfer when attempting to swing a golf club in an ideal club shaft plane, where the dominated muscle applies a first swing force to the golf club in a non-dominating swing force direction, and a dominating muscle applies a second swing force in a dominating swing force direction to the golf club which is opposite the direction, and exceeds the force, of the non-dominating swing force.

Abstract:

An articulated hollow arm is disclosed. The arm has a hollow center with an opening along the length of the arm. The hollow accepts electrical wires or tubes or mechanical wires depending on the application. A removable top is inserted into the opening and is designed to be retained by the mechanical interference between the top and the edges of the opening. Flanges or grooves may be placed to accommodate such retention of the top. In addition an external clip or an end piece may be used to retain the top while allowing the wires, etc. to emerge from either end. Any termination or connector at the ends of the wires, etc. do not have to fit through the hollow. Such wires, etc. can be removed, repaired and/or replaced via the elongated opening by removing the top. The top may be of a flexible material that provides strain relief for any cables.

Abstract:

An illuminating magnifier has an annular housing with an underside, an inner edge defining an opening and an outer edge. A magnifying lens fills the opening, which lens has an optical axis. Light emitting diodes are distributed about the axis at the underside of the housing, each diode, when energized, producing a relatively wide angle conical light beam with a central hot spot cone which can illuminate a viewing field below the lens. Special mounting surfaces at the housing underside aim the diodes in the diode array at selected angles relative to the lens axis so that the conical light beams therefrom overlap and all points in the viewing field are illuminated by the light beam from each diode and a center region of that field around the axis is illuminated by the hot spot cones of all the diodes. A controller in the magnifier enables close control over the selection, activation, brightness and on-time of the diodes.
