Abstract:

A method and system for separating oil form oil-absorbent materials for recycle of both the oil and the materials. The method comprises placing the oil absorbent material on a grid over a catch basin to drain, then centrifuging the material to remove additional excess oil. The excess oil is processed to separate water, grit, dirt, metal chips and shavings from it so that it can be sent to a refinery. After centrifuging to remove excess oils, the materials are dry cleaned in doubly distilled dry cleaning fluid to remove additional oil so that the materials can be reused.

Abstract:

An insert for use in a sewer system to remove oils and solvents carried by surface water runoff. The insert includes a holder and a quantity of water permeable, hydrophobic, oil and solvent absorbing material such as melt blown polypropylene. The holder has two functions. It holds an effective quantity of the absorber and holds it in such a way that the surface water is exposed to the absorber to allow oils and solvents to be absorbed. The insert in preferably placed, cartridge-like, at the inlet or outlet of the sewer system so that it may be quickly checked, replaced and serviced. In one embodiment, the insert also contains a leaf trap.

Abstract:

A system and method for pre-treating grease and other similar wastes prior to introducing them into a waste water treatment facility so that the grease, etc. , does not clog the waste water treatment facility equipment. The system includes a tank for receipt of the grease that has an inlet pipe equipped with water jets and emulsifying blades that emulsify and dilute the grease in hot water as it enters the tank. The dilute waste then can be drawn through a drain pipe by opening a valve to allow it to enter the waste water processing equipment.

Abstract:

A game and method for playing same is based on a deck of cards, each card of which uses an icon to represent one element of a transcendental set of elements. Preferably there are three elements in the transcendental set of elements, each one having a value higher than that of one other element of said set and having a value lower than that of the remaining element. Each card also includes a key or transcendental set rule, or portion thereof, so that the players are reminded of which element beats which other element, and an additional statement that relates to the element and provides a fact, tip or recommendation of interest to the player. Several different card games can be played with the deck, including the well-known rock-paper-scissor type of game played traditionally with hand signals, but here with cards.

Abstract:

A method and system for removing oil from an oil absorbent material. The method comprises placing untreated oil containing material in a centrifuge, centrifuging the material to remove and recover a quantity of pure oil, soaking the material in a low-pH organic degreaser, centrifuging the material a second time to remove the remaining oil and the degreasing solution, separating, skimming and recovering the oil from the degreasing solution, and thereafter disposing the degreasing solution and drying the material. The present invention provides a method of maximizing the recovery of oil, which in turn allows the desorbed material to be recycled or reused and generates a waste degreasing solution that can released directly into a sewage system, thereby minimizing the environmental impact and cost of cleaning the oil absorbent material.
