Abstract:

A cellular computer system is constructed of a plurality of cells. Each cell has a memory system, a plurality of processors capable of accessing the memory system, a system communication interface coupled to processors, and a cell error queue maintained by a processor within the memory system. The system communication interface of each cell is coupled to other cells of the system. A first cell of the plurality of cells is a master cell that maintains a partition error queue and is capable of receiving into the partition error queue error descriptors from the cell error queue of a second cell of the plurality of cells.

Abstract:

A partitionable computer system and method of operating the same is disclosed. The partitionable computer system has a state machine, a processor, and a device controller. The state machine can be configured to monitor the status of a partition of the partitionable computer system. Abstract:

System and method of supporting virtual mappings for shared firmware contents in a computer system are described. In one embodiment, the method comprises, responsive to a function call issued by a processor, determining whether address translation has been enabled for the issuing processor; and responsive to a determination that address translation has been enabled, determining an ID of the issuing processor; identifying a Physical-to-Virtual (“PTV”) Map corresponding to the issuing processor; extracting from the identified PTV map a virtual address corresponding to a physical address passed in the function call; and returning the virtual address to the issuing processor.

One embodiment of the invention is a method for resetting a partition of a multiple partition system, wherein the partition comprises a plurality of processors, the method comprising executing, by one processor of the plurality of processors, reset code from firmware, building a list of reset register addresses associated with the plurality of processors, sending an interrupt to the other processors of the plurality of processors, resetting the other processors by writing a reset code to their associated reset registers, and resetting the one processor by writing to its associated reset register.

Methods and apparatus for subdividing a hard partition of a computer server system into one or more soft partitions using partition management programming installed within firmware of the server system.
