Abstract:

A gravity flow sludge load-out system for rapid and accurate loading-out of large volumes of treated biosolids from a wastewater dewatering plant, said system includes a plurality of hoppers supported by a main structure having a plurality of vertical support members each resting on a load cell a sludge inlet at the tip of each hopper, and hydraulically controlled metering gates at the bottom. A PLC controls delivery of sludge from a dewatering facility, including e. g. a dewatering centrifuge into the hoppers and then controls load-out of the sludge to a container truck by providing real-time monitoring of net sludge load-out and tight control of metering gates.

Abstract:

A gravity flow sludge load-out metering gate comprising a frame having longitudinal and horizontal frame rails and a transverse rail member which defines a gate front portion and a smaller gate rear portion. A sludge inlet funnel is positioned above the front portion for insertion into the interior of a hopper discharge outlet. In the preferred embodiment, the sludge inlet funnel is substantially square and has four triangular, tapering interior sides, which, when viewed from above define an asymmetrical four-pointed star, the interior configuration of which further defines an asymmetrical diamond-shaped sludge discharge orifice. Interior to the metering gate frame is a metering gate blade, slidingly positioned between a plurality of support rollers and a bulb seal, the gate operatively connected to electric, hydraulic, or pneumatic power.

Abstract:

A slide gate sealing system including a seal mounting frame disposed between the longitudinal rails and the intermediate and horizontal end frame members of a slide gate frame, a ball seal disposed in the seal mounting frame and having a mounting tail with a mating surface, a seal retainer to control the deformation of the ball seal under pressure, at least one isolation dam on the mating surface of the ball seal, and a ramping mechanism affixed to the interior side of the horizontal end frame member. The ramping mechanism includes a section of round material attached to the underside of the slide gate blade, and a ramping cam affixed to the interior side of the horizontal end frame member and having an inclined portion upwardly inclined toward the horizontal end frame member, such that when the slide gate blade is moved toward a closed position, the round material and the ramping cam cooperate to urge the slide gate blade upwardly so that the topside of the slide gate blade comes into positive contact with the ball seal.

Abstract:

Aqueous dilutions of acidic ternary compositions having unusually synergistic antimicrobial activity against and microorganisms are disclosed. The compositions encompass ternary component mixtures of an alpha-hydroxycarboxylic acid, a monohydric water soluble alkanol and an anionic tenside having a Ternary Ratio residing within a defined phase region wherein synergistic antimicrobial activity is observed; whereas mixtures outside of the defined phase region and those lacking any one of the components do not exhibit synergistic activity. Compositions, methods and articles employing the inventive ternary synergistic compositions, and their utility in sanitizing and disinfecting hard surfaces are described.

Abstract:

An improved electronic coin mechanism and coin operated dispensing system includes an electronic coin mechanism which controls operation of a vending machine and stores certain types of data. The data in raw form are read out by a reader which may be interfaced to a computer through a shuttle. Due to the variety of information which may be collected, the computer is able to generate a variety of reports. The electronic coin mechanism is battery operated and designed for long service life. The mechanism includes an apertured rotatable coin wheel which detects the value of a coin by its diameter and compared the count with stored information in the coin electronics, the latter having an elapsed time relative counter. Time of first and last sale as well as sales per period are stored as well as total amounts received. Various levels of security are provided.

Abstract:

An improved electronic solid-state record/playback device (SSRPD) and electronic system may be used to record and playback information such as audio, video, control, and other data. The SSRPD uses no tape or moving parts in the actual record/playback process but includes an audio and/or video and/or other data record/playback module (RPM), which performs all of the record signal conversion, recording and data compression algorithms, digital signal processing, and playback signal conversion. The SSRPD has program input processing and control output processing modules so that other devices may be controlled in different ways including interactive control. A time and control processor module facilitates internal synchronization of the SSRPD audio, video, and control information, as well as synchronization with other devices. The SSRPD information described is recorded into an internal resident memory(s). The novel interface allows information to be exchanged without degradation via a digital Portable Storage Device (PSD) which may be a Random Access Memory card (RAM card), with other SSRPDs as well as to a special Computer Interface Device (CID).
