Abstract:

A bookholder with a base member having a longitudinally extending base portion forward from a U-shaped rod defining a first planar surface; a support member having a longitudinally extending support portion formed from another U-shaped rod defining a second planar surface; a book carrier mounted on the support member having book-supporting ledges; and a transverse coupling member with pairs of holes arranged to receive and hold both the base portion rod and the support portion rod so the first and second planar surfaces intersect at a preselected included angle. The book carrier is movable along the support member to adjust the height of the book carrier with respect to the coupling member. The base member rod is movable with respect to the coupling member between a first "suspending mode" position when the selected included angle is approximately between 90. degree. and 130. degree. , into a second "table supporting mode" position when the selected included angle is between 90. degree. and 50. degree.

Abstract:

A control module is disclosed for mounting in an electrical appliance that provides a supporting base for assembly of electrical components to include control elements forming part of a control panel. The module includes a relatively flat base formed of relatively stiff, molded material with a transverse linear zone extending thereacross to divide the base into a rearward section and a forward control panel section. The linear zone is of sufficiently reduced thickness that it provides a hinge means so that the front and rear sections may be pivoted relative to one another between a relatively flat assembly condition and a final mounting condition. After assembly and flexing of the sections, the module may be mounted in an appliance with the front section serving as a portion of a manually operable control panel for the appliance.

A control arrangement for translating substantially linear motion includes a control device, a controlled device, and a mechanical link interconnected between said control device and said controlled device. The mechanical link comprises a spring strip having an arcuate cross section. The control device comprises an arrangement for moving the strip substantially linearly in a given direction at the control device. The control arrangement further comprises at least one guide arrangement for bending the strip in at least one region between the control device and controlled device, to extend in a direction other than the given direction. The strip extends without support by lateral forces in at least one region between the control device and controlled device.

Abstract:

An improved bookholder comprises a lower part, which has a base member and upstanding, spaced, front and rear walls, and an upper part, which has a top member and spaced depending left and right side walls. The upper part is adapted to provide a complementary fit with the lower part so as to form a box-like structure. One or more hinges connect the top member with the rear wall, and a retaining strip clamped between the top member and rear wall lock the upper part in position. The side walls are pivotally attached near their centers to the top member by thumb screw tightened pivot pins for orientation into parallel spaced relationship, a mutually perpendicular position and a mutually co-planar position for temporarily re-orientating and fixing said side walls on said top member to provide ledges for holding a book.

Abstract:

An improved bookholder for use with a pole lamp comprising a book support having a back rest and pivotable ledges adapted to hold the book in a selectable orientation, an attachment at one end thereof to the bookholder, the arm being sufficiently flexible to be bent to a desired shape and sufficiently rigid to maintain the shape after it is bent, and a shade attached to the other end of the adjustable arm, whereby the shade may be adjusted with respect to the light source and a book on the book support. Preferably, the shade comprises light-attenuating vanes which may be folded up like a fan when not in use, or opened to any desired extent to change the size of the shade. The adjustable arm holding the shade may be bent or moved in a variety of directions to adjust the position of the shade with respect to the light source.

Abstract:

A humidifier unit with a water supply reservoir, a media unit which passes through the reservoir and picks up moisture, a motor and fan unit together with drive mechanism for rotating the media unit and for blowing air through the media unit and into the surrounding area, and a removable, refillable liquid water treatment dispenser. As depicted, the humidifier is a console room humidifier with the water reservoir accessible from the rear. The removable dispenser is an auxiliary unit consisting of an elongate bottle, the cap of which carries a spring biased poppet valve with a projecting stem. The bottle is inverted and received through an opening in the top wall of the humidifier with its valve operating stem resting on an abutment above a flow passage funnel unit mounted on structure within the humidifier above the water reservoir. The dispenser, when in place, can be pressed down against the biasing force of the spring biased poppet valve, causing the valve to open and dispense a selected amount of treatment fluid such as an anti-liming composition into the water reservoir.

Abstract:

A bookholder for reclined reading includes a support arm assembly of two arms meeting at a right angle and extending upwardly at approximately 45. degree. from the horizontal. The support arms provide ledges for supporting the bottom and one side of an open book at a 45. degree. angle. The ledges have a plurality of holes for selective insertion of pegs to hold the book and its pages in place. The support arm assembly is pivotably supported on a backwall member, which in turn is supported on a base member. In a modified form the support arm assembly is fixed rather than pivotable. The ledges include notches to optionally support a book in the horizontal position. A lamp for night time reading is incorporated into an open box structure in the base member.

An adapter for holding a spiral bound booklet in a multiple ring notebook. The adapter comprises a flat carrier with holes to receive the notebook rings and supports an elongated rod which passes through the spirals of the spiral binding. End crowns are removable to allow removal of the elongated rod from the spirals.
