Abstract:

Improved temperature compensated, automatic output control (AOC) circuitry for RF signal power amplifiers is described that maintains the output power within one-half dB of a selected one of eight power levels varying from nine milliwatts to five watts, a dynamic range of twenty-eight dB. The amplification of the RF signal amplifier is proportional to a drive current signal provided by a current amplifier. A half-wave rectifier is coupled to the output of final amplifiers for generating an output power signal that has a magnitude proportional to the output power. The half-wave rectifier is temperature compensated for and biased by a diode coupled to the rectifier by one resistor and coupled to supply voltage by another resistor. The output power voltage is further coupled to an amplifier having an amplification factor selected by level control signals. The amplified output power signal is coupled to a comparator which varies the drive current provided by the current amplifier in response to the voltage difference between the amplified output power signal and a reference voltage.

Abstract:

An improved moving bed contacting design is disclosed, which is especially useful for moving bed reforming. A moving catalyst bed is contained in a single, downflowing annular bed. Multiple feed inlet and outlet locations, and baffles on screens containing the catalyst, permit radial flow operation through a single bed of catalyst to simulate several distinct catalyst beds. Some gas may flow up or down, instead of radially to increase or decrease the loading of the catalyst bed.

A method for the recovery of bitumen from tar sand comprises slurrying tar sand with about 0. 5 to about 4. 0 pound of a organic solvent per pound of tar sand, then adding greater than about 0. 50 pound water per pound of tar sand, and separating a bitumen rich solvent phase. The method has the advantage of permitting separation of sand from the bitumen rich solvent extract without formation of a stable emulsion.

Abstract:

A method for filtering spent tar sands from a bitumen and organic solvent solution comprises separating the solution into two streams wherein the bulk of the coarser spent tar sand is in a first stream and has an average particle size of about 10 to about 100 mesh and the bulk of the finer spent tar sand is in a second stream; producing a filter cake by filtering the coarser spent tar sand from the first stream; and filtering the finer spent tar sand from the second stream with the filter cake. The method is particularly useful for filtering solutions of bitumen extracted from bitumen containing diatomite, spent diatomite and organic solvent.

Abstract:

An annunciator for a solenoid includes a conductive probe which projects into the pathway of the solenoid core piece. Upon actuation of the core piece, the probe is engaged by the core piece to partially complete an electrical circuit to an external signalling device. The probe includes a lost motion contact to insure proper making and breaking of a circuit upon further movement of the core piece into engagement with the field piece.
