Abstract:

The present disclosure is directed to a system for providing restrained, streamlined access to a computerized information source. The systemâwhich works in association with a multipurpose computerâincludes a discrete article, such as an advertising specialty like a mouse pad, having facilities to receive a user input and, in turn, generate a unique predetermined signal based on the input. The system further includes software for configuring the computer to respond to each unique predetermined signal by executing one or more commands, as selected and stored within the software. Each configuration can be dynamically locked such that the commands to be executed upon the unique input are not alterable without an authorization mechanism, such as a password. The software also responds to receipt of one of the unique predetermined signals by executing the commands associated with the received signal. A method for performing same is also disclosed.

Abstract:

A bumper subassembly includes first and second brackets which are removably attached to an impact beam by removable fasteners installed between the brackets and the beam. The brackets of the bumper subassembly are then subsequently welded to the frame rails so that the bumper subassembly becomes welded to the vehicle frame rails in the assembly plant but removal of the removable fasteners permits subsequent disassembly of the impact beam from the brackets to permit repair of the vehicle. The impact beam is preferably a closed tubular beam having a support wall, and first and second openings are provided in the support wall which receive reinforcing portions provided integrally on the brackets. Clearance holes are provided in the support wall to provide access to the bracket for making the spot weld between the bracket and the frame rail.

Abstract:

An automotive bumper includes a closed cross section impact bar having at least one open end. An insert formed as a plurality of interconnected molded cells is received in the open end and spans the distance between front and rear walls of the impact bar. A positioning rib prevents overtravel of the insert and tuning bumps are provided to create an interference fit between the insert and the impact bar. An energy absorber can be mounted on the impact bar and fitted with the positioning rib of the insert.
