Abstract:
An autoclavable flexible fiberscope for remote visualization. A flexible fiberscope shaft including a number of flexible fiberoptic image-transmitting fibers is attached to a video coupler for connection to a video camera or other external video device. High-temperature materials of fabrication and high-temperature seals are provided to resist damage during autoclave sterilization.
In various exemplary embodiments, the technology described herein provides a modular hydraulic brake caliper for use on automobile vehicles and motorcycles. A modular hydraulic disc brake caliper housing to house a piston block assembly includes one or more top bridge configured to stiffen and strengthen a disc brake caliper. The housing includes one or more caliper body configured to stiffen and strengthen a modular hydraulic brake caliper assembly, to securely receive the top bridge and to restrain a piston block assembly, and is configured with or without the use of an integral piston. The housing can include at least one side bridge configured to stiffen and strengthen the modular hydraulic brake caliper assembly. The housing can include at least one end bridge configured to secure one side bridge to another and to the top bridge. A modular hydraulic disc brake caliper assembly, a disc brake assembly, and associated methods are disclosed.

Abstract:
A steerable catheter having a segmented tip formed from materials of differing hardnesses. A tip segment formed of softer material provides improved steerability, while an adjacent harder segment provides improved resistance against steering wire pull-through. Wear-resistant sleeves and a coined loop portion of steering wire provide additional resistance against steering wire pull-through. A tip fabrication method is also disclosed. The catheter includes a one-piece inlet housing with integral mounting fins for attachment to the catheter housing.
A combination hot air furnace and hot water heater (10) having a furnace (20), a gas flow control valve (40) and a hot water heater (60) constructed as an integral assembly. Furnace (20) has furnace gas burner (33) supported below furnace heat exchanger (32). Furnace heat exchanger (32) is supported within conduit (24) through which air is passed for heating. Gas flow control valve (40) is sealingly mounted upon the top outlet (36) of furnace heat exchanger (32), and may selectively direct the heat of combustion from furnace gas burner (33) toward water tank (62) for heating water within the water tank. Gas flow control valve (40) may also seal off furnace heat exchanger (32) from the flow control valve and draw outside combustion air into valve body (42) through side wall opening (48) for providing combustion air for water tank gas burner (64).
A steerable catheter (310) having a handle, a manifold strain relief (314) securely mounted at a front distal end of the handle, a steering dial (316) rotatably mounted within the handle, the steering dial (316) comprises a steering dial left fastener (316L) and a steering dial right fastener (316R). A lumen extrusion shaft (318) is securely fastened at a rear distal end to the manifold strain relief (314). The lumen extrusion shaft (318) has at least one lumen extrusion shaft large lumen opening (318B) and at least one lumen extrusion shaft small lumen opening (318C) contained therein. A lumen extrusion tip (320) is securely fastened at a front distal end of the lumen extrusion shaft (318) by a lumen extrusion shaft connection (318A). A manifold (334) is securely fastened at a rear end of the manifold strain relief (314). At least one luer lock (324) is securely mounted at a rear distal end of the handle.

An endocoupler system having an endocoupler (110) and a myeloscope (210). The present invention relates to an endocoupler system. More particularly, the present invention relates to an endocoupler system consisting of an endocoupler connected to a myeloscope. The present invention is a system to directly view the pathology of the epidural space in the lower spine region using a miniature endoscopic catheter device. This device is currently used by physicians to diagnose and treat patients who suffer from chronic low back pain. The present invention consists of a developed medical procedure, disposable procedure access kit, multi-lumen steerable catheter (Video Guided Catheter), small fiber optic endoscope (Myeloscope), endocoupler (Endocoupler), light source, and camera system. A major feature of the invention is the ability to orientate the viewing plane with respect to the image transmitted through the image fiber bundle by rotation of the image fiber coupler in a plane that is normal to the central optical axis of the objective lens assembly and image fiber coupler. This is accomplished in the present invention which is designed permitting the endocoupler to rotate allowing the image fiber coupling to be oriented at the connection point to the endocoupler.
Most people consider dogs to be man's best friend, but 69 year-old Robert Biggs of Paradise may think otherwise after he says he was saved from a mountain lion attack by a mother bear. It happened Monday morning while Biggs was on a hike in the Bean Soup Flat area near Magalia. He came

Officials skeptical, but hiker sticks by lion attack tale
In his version, Robert Biggs, of Paradise, Calif., says a mountain lion pounced on him in a wilderness area above Whiskey Flats on Monday near where he had been observing a bear, a yearling and a newborn bear.
Robert Biggs, project engineer at Rocketdyne, told the Los Angeles Times in June about the difficulty in perfecting the technology in the 1970s. "We were wrestling with the technology at the time," he said. "We had about 20 major accidents, but we finally got it right."
