In 2000, trehalose was approved as a food additive in the US for a number of foods from sushi and vegetables to ice cream, and about three years later the reports of outbreaks with these lineages started to increase, said Robert Britton, Professor at Baylor College of Medicine.
This changes how we think about hypervirulent C. difficile in that most studies have focused on virulence mechanisms for the rise of epidemic ribotypes of C. difficile emerging in the clinic, Robert Britton, PhD, professor, molecular virology and microbiology, Baylor College of Medicine, told
Their first pheromone blend attracted the bedbugs during lab experiments but not in apartments that had become infested, so they teamed up with SFU chemist Robert Britton, who is an expert at synthesising natural products.

Researchers unveil new chemical combination to trap bedbugs
Gries worked with his wife, biologist Regine Gries who endured more than 180,000 bedbug bites on her arms during the study chemist Robert Britton, and other researchers for five years as they searched for a way to eradicate the pesky and potentially costly bloodsuckers.
Working with Simon Fraser chemist Robert Britton and a team of students, they say they have found the solution - a set of chemical attractants, or pheromones, that lure the bedbugs into traps, and keep them there.
