Abstract:
An apparatus and method for coupling a gastroscope () to a gastrostomy feeding tube apparatus () such that both can be introduced together into the alimentary tract, thereby eliminating the need to separately introduce the gastroscope afterward in order to verify that the gastrostomy feeding tube () has been correctly placed within the stomach of the patient. The gastrostomy feeding tube includes a coupling member (), such as an elongate tract or thread, that is accessible about the second end () thereof. The elongate tract is drawn through the working channel () of the gastroscope by an engagement member (), such as snare, which then allows the distal end () of the gastroscope to be advanced into the end cap () of the feeding tube so that the two can be pulled together into the stomach. In another embodiment, the coupling member comprises an integrated attachment member (), such as hook, to which the engaging member can attach.

Abstract:
A digestive tract barrier is provided that includes a material defining dimensions of a tube, said tube sized to deploy within the digestive tract of a subject. The material or stitches that make up the barrier disintegrate in a controlled manner. The disintegration precludes the need for a surgical procedure to retrieve the barrier and allows for increased nutritional absorption after behavior modification has occurred. Through the inclusion of opening or fenestrations in the barrier, bile flow and nutrition absorption are facilitated. Disintegration is facilitated by formation of the barrier from biodegradable material, stitching non-degradable swatches with disintegrating stitching, or the use of a MEMS cutter. A digestive barrier coated on either the interior or exterior of the tube facilitates management of conditions such as obesity, colitis, and Crohn's disease.

Abstract:
The device for laparoscopically delivering a solid material through a trocar into a body cavity comprises at least: a hollow tube defining a void therein and having a hub at a proximal end thereof, the hub having a proximal opening therein which forms a continuation of the hollow tube; the hollow tube having a prepackaged solid material therewithin; the tube having an outer diameter less than an inner diameter of a trocar through which the tube is inserted into a body cavity, the tube extending past a valve in the trocar when positioned therewithin; the hub having a diameter greater than the inner diameter of the trocar so as not to pass therethrough; and the material being suitably anchored by a string to the device so as not to become lost within the body cavity after being pushed out of the tube.
