Abstract:

A deformable intraocular lens injecting apparatus for inserting a deformable intraocular lens through a small incision into an eye. The apparatus includes a lens injecting body including a lens receiver configured to be operated between an open configuration and a closed configuration, and a nozzle portion provided with a tip portion configured to be inserted through a small incision into an eye. The nozzle portion is configured for connection to the lens receiver of the lens injecting body, and the nozzle portion and the lens receiver defining a lens delivery passageway. A plunger is slidably disposed relative to the lens delivery passageway and configured to engage a deformable intraocular lens within the lens delivery passageway of the lens receiver, and to move the deformable intraocular lens out of the lens delivery passageway into the eye.

Abstract:

A prosthetic heart valve having an anchoring sleeve that changes shape when the valve is implanted and contacts the surrounding annulus to prevent migration of the valve. The heart valve may be non-expandable and the anchoring sleeve may provide the primary anchoring structure of the valve. Alternatively, the valve may be expandable wherein the anchoring sleeve supplements the inherent anchoring capacity of the valve structure. The anchoring sleeve is at least partly made of a material that increases in size, i. e. , swells, due to absorption of body fluids. For instance, the anchoring sleeve may be formed of an inner material that swells upon contact with body fluids enclosed by a cover. The anchoring sleeve desirably changes shape to provide spaced apart annular flanges for securing the valve around a fibrous annulus. An anchoring sleeve for a prosthetic heart valve having an expandable frame surrounds a majority of the frame and may define an external hourglass configuration.

Abstract:

An electric arc welding system includes programming circuits for controlling the position of a welding torch on a carriage wherein the carriage is caused to move along in the direction of a weld path on a member to be welded. The programming circuits cause the torch to move back and forth across the weld path as the carriage moves parallel to the weld path, the excursion time of the torch and dwell time of the torch on either side of the path at the limits of its excursion constituting the selected position program. The torch thus follows a repetitive generally truncated sawtooth pattern. The welding current to the torch is connected into the programming circuits to be responsive to a selected program so that the level of current provided during the dwell times is different from the level of current provided during the excursion times. Additionally, the speed of wire feed for the torch can be made responsive to a selected position program so that the speed wire is fed is different during the dwell times from the speed wire is fed during the excursion times. Torch centering and arc voltage controls are included, the overall system functioning to provide welds of greatly improved quality.

A dynamic auction webpage for an online auction is presented on a user device. The dynamic auction includes a bidder interface that enables a user to submit a bid on an asset associated with the dynamic auction webpage. The bidder interface displays one or more bidding parameters associated with a subsequent bid to be submitted via the bidding interface. The one or more bidding parameters is one or more of: a current bid, a next bid, or a bid increment. While the online auction is being conducted, an indicator of interest in the online auction is determined based at least in part on activity data associated with the online auction, including a page view count maintained by the network system for the dynamic auction webpage. At least one of the one or more bidding parameters is determined based on the indicator of interest and the bidder interface is dynamically updated.
