Abstract:

A turbofan jet engine that includes a valve assembly mounted within the engine and in fluid communication with the engine bypass flow passage. The valve assembly includes a valve body that has a fluid inlet port in fluid communication with the bypass flow passage, and two or more fluid outlet ports in fluid communication with two different turbine case sections. The valve is disposed in the valve body and is selectively moveable between a closed position and an open position. In the close position only one fluid outlet port is in substantial fluid communication with the fluid inlet port, to thereby supply cooling air to one turbine case section. In the open position, all of the fluid outlet ports are in substantial fluid communication with the fluid inlet port, to thereby supply cooling air to all of the turbine case sections.

Abstract:

A method and system that reduces undesired vibration in a vehicle measures ambient vibration and generates a first command signal based upon the measured vibration. If a first component of the first command signal exceeds a maximum allowable, the first component of the first command signal must be constrained. A residual vibration resulting from the constraint of the first component is then calculated. A second command signal to compensate for the residual vibration is then calculated. Force generators are then activated based upon the constrained first component and the second command signal in order to reduce the vibration.

A system and method reduces undesired noise or vibration in a vehicle. The ambient vibration is measured and command signals are generated over time. The command signals are generated based upon the measured vibration and based upon a control weighting. An improved roofing method and assembly having a fascia cap designed to prevent water from moving through capillary action back towards the roof. The assembly has an a elongated drip edge running back the bottom edge of the fascia cap that displaces water away from the roof, preserving the integrity of the roof and building walls below. A blocking strip attaches the fascia cap to the roof, maintaining the assembly and helping the flow of water away from the roof.

Abstract:

A system for enhancing vibration reduction in a vehicle that utilizes one or more sensors which sense ambient vibration in the vehicle and generate a signal corresponding to the sensed vibrations. A control circuit is coupled to the sensors and receives the signals. The control circuit, utilizing Kalman filtering algorithms, generates a control signal that adapts a previous command force, from an actuator to a sensor, thereby dynamically updating a parameter that represents an estimated vehicle response. This dynamically updated parameter is a result of utilizing a covariance that is a function of an empirically derived constant value and a change in forces exerted by the actuator. The control circuit outputs this control signal to vibration generator units, which generate a vibration field for reducing vibrations in the vehicle.
