Abstract:
The present invention provides a system for enabling the sensing of changes in pressure in response to uterine muscle tone changes relating to contractions, and for enabling the evaluation of contractions based thereon. The system enables a portion thereof to effectively and efficiently project at least partially below the non-compressed abdominal surface, and provides electrical isolation of the system elements. It enables ease of use and enhanced patient comfort. It also enables maximized sensitivity and minimized system loading retention pressure.

Abstract:
A sheath assembly for an endoscope includes an elongate tubular body and a plug. The endoscope has a handle portion and a scope portion extending therefrom to a tip. The body includes first and second wall sections and extends along a longitudinal axis between first and second distal openings located at distal and proximal ends thereof, respectively. The first wall section extends radially about the longitudinal axis to define a scope lumen. The scope portion is receivable in the scope lumen with the distal and proximal ends. The second wall section extends radially about a portion of the first wall section and longitudinally between second distal and proximal end openings. The first and second wall sections define an integral suction lumen in fluid communication with a first source of negative pressure. The plug is mated with the distal end opening and includes a lens surface through which energy is transmissible.

Abstract:
A catheter assembly comprises a first catheter including a wall with an inner surface at least partially defining a lumen. A second catheter is connected to the wall of the first catheter and is disposed outward of the inner surface of the wall. The second catheter is at least partially covered by a sheath portion of the first catheter. A first portion of the wall of the first catheter is made of a relatively low durometer elastomeric material and is relatively extensible. A second portion of the wall is formed of a relatively high durometer elastomeric material and is relatively inextensible.

Abstract:
A single, disposable differential transducer having a molded plastic body in which there is a pair of chambers separated by a strain gage electronic chip that flexes in accordance with the difference in the pressures between the two chambers. The plastic housing has inlets to allow communication with the chambers and the overall unit is readily manufactured of inexpensive components that allow disposability of the unit when it has been used on a patient. The pressure transducer chambers are isolated from each other such that differing locations of the patient may be sensed for pressure at the same time without the risk of inadvertant cross-contamination.
In a system and method for venting trapped gas from a reagent chamber in a reagent tube system and method, the system includes a valve insertion tool for inserting a valve in the tube so as to seal the chamber and enclose a reagent therein, and so as to vent trapped gas from the chamber. The system further includes a tube and valves comprised of materials for enabling momentary deflection of the valves for insertion in the tube. The tube and valve materials further enable the valve to remain in place to obstruct the flow of reagent from one chamber to the next upon insertion in the tube. They are further adapted to be readily displaceable with minimal focused force when separate dispensing or interaction and intermixing of the reagents is required for use thereof.

Neonatal Screening for Inborn Errors of Metabolism
At a Cumberland Farms that has been mentioned again and again as a place where some mouths need to be rinsed with soap, Robert Guthrie, 62, said the law crosses the fine line of independence. But he said he had voted for it just the same, because it was a town where the youths didnt have a lot o
