A system for inhibiting a potential interference source in a communications system. The system includes a first mechanism for incorporating a code within a signal. A second mechanism employs the code to decode the signal. A third mechanism for selectively prevents detection by the second mechanism of a subsequent signal employing the code. In a specific embodiment, the third mechanism incorporates a predetermined delay after receipt of the signal by the second mechanism. The predetermined delay is sufficient to prevent detection by the second mechanism of the subsequent signal employing the code. The code is a function of a time value associated with the signal. The subsequent signal incorporates the code and lacks a corresponding accurate time value due to the predetermined delay. Consequently, rebroadcast of the subsequent signal, which is a delayed signal, is less likely to interfere with the system communications.
A handheld microphone includes a hollow cylindrical housing with a portion of a cylindrical shock mount device positioned within the top end thereof. The shock mount device incorporates an isolation band such that only the isolation band contacts the inner surface of the housing, thus dampening the external noises transmitted to the dynamic element of the microphone.
Microphone Having Rear Phase Rejection Collection Tube
A microphone includes an annular gap between the inner cylindrical housing and the outer tubular shell such that the undesired acoustical signals entering the microphone from the side and rear flow into and through the annular gap. The signals are ported through a phase reversal entrance circumferentially surrounding a magnet assembly and impact the diaphragm such that the undesired acoustical signals entering the front of the microphone are substantially cancelled out by undesired acoustical signals originating from the side and rear.
A device for mounting a microphone includes an elongate coupling plate designed such that the microphone may be adjustably mounted to the plate at a desired location along the length of the coupling plate. The device also includes a clamping assembly for attaching the device to the drum. The clamping assembly is preferably pivotally attached to the coupling plate. The clamping assembly may include a pair of clamping plates to engage the counterhoop of a drum to retain the microphone on the drum.
A headphone assembly includes a pair of earpieces, each for engagement over one ear of a user. The earpieces are coupled to ends of an arcuate headband adapted for wear on the user's head. A microphone boom for holding a microphone is retained to one of the earpieces by a housing having mating upper and lower gaskets. The gaskets have notches for retaining the microphone boom within the gaskets.

Abstract:
The capacity of a battery is determined while charging the battery by measuring the time it takes the battery voltage to decrease to a selected voltage level during discharging intervals interspersed between charging intervals. The state-of-charge is also determined by measuring the voltage level during a discharge interval while monitoring the duration of the charge cycle. Additionally, faulty cells of the battery are detected by measuring the voltage of the individual cells at the end of a discharging interval during the charging of the battery.
