Method And System For Delivery Of Short Message Service Messages
A method and device for transmitting at least one short messaging service message to at least one wireless device are disclosed. The method comprises receiving at least one short message service message request associated with a short message service message. The short message service message is destined for reception by a wireless device (). Prior to receiving the request, a short message service center () determines if a wireless device () is registered with a registrar () associated with a session initiation protocol network for communicating over a packet data network (). The short message service message is transmitted to the wireless device () through the session initiation protocol network communicating over the packet data network () in response to the request and with the determination that the wireless device () is registered with the registrar ().

Abstract:
A method for increasing performance of a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes determining () quality of service parameters that will result in a reduced likelihood that an application assigned the determined quality of service parameters will be scheduled for transmission, identifying () an application to be provided service that is less than best effort, and assigning () the determined one or more quality of service parameters to the identified application. In an embodiment, the method further assigns () a dedicated bearer to the identified application and either does not schedule () the dedicated bearer at all or schedules () the dedicated bearer less frequently compared to a frequency of scheduling a default bearer.

Abstract:
State machine diagram () illustrates inactive connection () management wherein all bindings are deregistered, but active sessions remain. The mobile station may, re-register the connection (), to stop the Linger Timer () and return the connection to the active state () before timeout, or otherwise before the inactive connection is terminated. Otherwise, the Linger Timer may be stopped when the last active session is moved to a different connection, or released (). If the Linger Timer times out (), any active sessions will be released without the explicit action of the mobile station. In the active state (), if all bindings are deregistered and no active sessions are present, the connection may be terminated immediately as in (), without invoking the Linger Timer. Thus, the mobile station has an opportunity to take action regarding remaining sessions, such as releasing or refreshing on a different but active connection.
Method And Apparatus For Identifying Caller Preferences Matched To Callee Capabilities For Ims Communications
Multimedia IMS communications are established by matching callee capabilities with caller preferences and identifying a URI parameter in response thereto. When a session initiation protocol (SIP) request identifying caller preferences for an internet communication session and an identified callee is received (), a determination is made of whether the identified callee is a registered address of record (AOR) or not (). If the identified callee is a registered AOR (), a uniform resource identifier (URI) parameter and a globally routable user agent URI (GRUU) associated with callee capabilities are identified (). The URI parameter is used to create a modified SIP including the URI parameter () for sending () to an IMS enabled wireless communication device ().

US Classification:

Abstract:
Various embodiments are described to address the need for providing substantially reduced PTT call setup times and more efficient wireless bandwidth utilization for PTT sessions utilizing an IP-based protocol. The use of non-IP messaging between an originating MS () and PCF () and a target MS () and PCF (), the use of IP-based messaging between the PCFs, the use of access channel signaling by the originating MS, and the generation of SIP responses by a target PCF on behalf of the target MS are described. Embodiments incorporating some or all of these protocol changes, can provide either, or both, reduced end-to-end call setup time for PTT as it presently exists in IS-2000 systems or reduced bandwidth consumption.

Abstract:
A system controller () having a first mode of operation to repage a wireless mobile station in a multi-zone wireless communication system (). The system controller () accesses a location register () to obtain a zone location corresponding to a wireless mobile station. The system controller () then uses the transmission resources of the zone location to facilitate sourcing a wireless communication with the wireless mobile station. If the wireless mobile station does not respond, the first mode of operation for repaging the wireless mobile station includes the system controller's () accessing the location register () to obtain a second zone location and using the transmission resources of only the second zone location to source a wireless communication to the wireless mobile station.

Abstract:
An integration system using multiple types of MSCs () has been provided. An access request from a mobile station () is first determined () whether it is associated with a second type of MSC. If so, the access request is routed () to a MSC of the second type. Otherwise, it is determined () whether the access request is a registration, and if so, the access request is also routed () to a MSC of the second type for the registration processing. At the registration process, it is determined () whether the access request should be associate with the second type of MSC, and if so, an association as such is assigned () between the mobile station and the second type of MSC.

Abstract:
A UE () may establish various IMS Connections via various Access and Transport Networks (). Each IMS Connection is associated with a specific contact address and all IMS connections are associated with a single specific Private User ID (). Also various IMS connections may be established through different or identical P-CSCFs. For example, active IMS Connection () is associated with contact address () and P-CSCF # (), while IMS Connection # () is associated with contact address () and P-CSCF # (). All IMS connections shown in FIG. are via IPsec and are connected to S-CSCF (). Therefore, at S-CSCF () the UE () is associated with one Private User ID () based upon the UE () ISIM (). Thus in accordance with the embodiments, sessions may be moved between IMS connections and P-CSCFs which facilitates handoffs between various Access and Transport Networks ().
