Abstract:

Devices in which components of medical kits are carried are identifiable by means other than by the naked eye. The means for identification is attached to or integral with the device and may comprise raised and lowered surfaces that can be read by touch; serrations disposed on an edge or surface; a fluorescent coating viewable under infrared or ultraviolet light; or a pattern that is viewable using a thermal imaging device such as night vision goggles. A package for retaining a medical item includes an identifying element of a material that is selectively viewable in response to light attributes of the material. A device for the visual identification of a package containing a medical item includes an identifying element comprising a material that is visually discernible in reduced-light environments via the use of night vision devices.

Abstract:

A recreation area boundary and safety restraining barrier device and kit therefor is disclosed. The device includes a net having first and second edges, resilient net supports disposed near at least one of the first or second edges of the net for supporting the net, and support posts mounting the net in a substantially vertical orientation such that either the first or second edges thereof is in close proximity to the ground such that objects contacting the net are prevented from passing between the either first or second edges of the net and the ground. A kit is also disclosed containing at least two support posts, a length of netting material, and a length of resilient cord attachable to the netting material and the at least two support posts. The kit may further include at least two support post receiving sleeves.

Abstract:

Embodiments of a task monitoring system for hemorrhage control provide real-time or near real-time feedback to a trainee on the force that the trainee is applying to a simulated wound. In some embodiments, the task monitoring system comprises a mobile device, a pressure sensor, and a software application (“app”) that runs on the mobile device. The task monitoring system allows the trainee (e.g., medic, doctor, nurse, or other health worker) to practice applying the correct force on simulated wounds over defined time periods, training muscle memory of the health service provider to apply the correct pressure over the correct time duration.
