Abstract:

A high voltage distributor is reduced significantly in size by utilizing a dielectric fluid medium having a high dielectric constant between adjacent spark plug contacts. The distributor includes a fluid-tight chamber which contains the fluid medium, a rotor, a common high voltage supply contact and a plurality of spark plug contacts concentrically disposed to provide a metal-to-metal conduction path with the rotor. The rotor defines an electrically conducting path between the common high voltage supply contact and sequentially selected spark plug contacts, and contains a magnetic element which is magnetically coupled to a corresponding magnet at one end of a rotationally driven shaft, located external to the fluid-tight chamber.

Abstract:

A rack and pinion steering system for a sport utility vehicle having a solid front axle includes a pinion gear connected to the steering column of the vehicle and a rack gear meshed with the pinion gear. A coupling segment is moved by the engagement segment, and an arm is connected to the coupling segment. A drag link in turn is connected to the arm and is coupled to a first front wheel of the vehicle. Also, a tie rod couples the first front wheel to the second front wheel of the vehicle. With this structure, rotation of the pinion gear by the steering column causes the rack gear and arm to move translationally, thereby moving the drag link to turn the first front wheel. The first front wheel cooperates with the tie rod to simultaneously turn the second front wheel.

Abstract:

The invention is a tip cleaning device especially designed for use with small or miniature soldering irons. It consists of a low profile case forming a self-contained water well with a shaft for supporting a wiping sponge having a central aperture of a size to receive the soldering iron tip. There is a wick between the wall and the underside of the sponge to keep the wiping sponge wet as long as there is water in the well.
