Abstract:

An improved system can be used to examine a centrifuged sample of anticoagulated whole blood for evidence of blood borne rare events such as: circulating cancer cells; malarial parasites; other hemato-parasites; bacteria; and the like; and can also be used in the measurement of hematocrit and hemoglobin, as well as white cell and platelet count values in the centrifuged blood sample. The system includes a transparent blood sample tube and an insert that is placed in the tube. The insert floats on the packed erythrocyte layer in the centrifuged blood sample, and expands all of the layers above the packed erythrocyte layer. The insert also forces any blood borne rare events to the periphery of the blood sample in the tube where such events can be detected through the tube wall. The bottom end of the tube is closed by a closure which includes an outer sheath and an inner plug that projects up into the tube bore to a degree necessary to elevate at least the upper portion of the packed erythrocyte layer into which the insert has settled sufficiently so as to be detectable above the cap, and preferably examinable microscopically after the blood sample has been centrifuged. The outer sheath of the tube closure includes an outer annular surface which is provided with sensible indicia.

Abstract:

This device aims at correcting distortions in spatial geometry and function of the heart muscle, thereby restoring valvular integrity and optimizing myocardial performance. Abstract:

A virtual patient simulates the onset, diagnosis and treatment of all major medical conditions via a medical instructional console. The multimedia simulation, complete with video and audio, allows the patient to develop symptoms, answer questions, and undergo physical examination, monitoring, laboratory and radiological evaluation. The virtual patient responds realistically to medical interventions and visualizes medical ailments and treatments from “within”. Exemplary organs available for visualization include a beating heart, flowing blood, breathing lungs and a thinking brain. Medical conditions include clots forming and emblazing, lungs collapsing, and the heart being defibrillated. The virtual patient provides a complete human body heretofore impalpable, allowing a user to navigate throughout the human body, observing the organs in simulated motion during both normal and pathological physiology, while demonstrating the internal effects of medications and procedures on these organs.

An apparatus for and method of analyzing a biologic fluid sample is provided. A method for leveraging a first secure channel of communication between a first agent and a second agent to create a second secure channel of communication between the first agent and a third agent. The method includes creating the first secure channel of communication between the first agent and the second agent using a configurable data-driven initial process on a first computing device. Responsive to the first agent receiving a request from the third agent to establish the second secure channel of communication, the method further includes retrieving identifying information from the third agent. The method further includes ending the identifying information from the third agent to the second agent over the first secure channel of communication. Responsive to receiving approval of the third agent's request from the second agent, the method further includes establishing the second secure channel of communication.

Abstract:

A biological fluid analysis cartridge is provided. In certain embodiments, the cartridge includes a base plate extending between a sample handling portion and an analysis chamber portion. A handling upper panel is attached to the base plate within the sample handling portion. A collection port is at least partially formed with the handling upper panel. An initial channel and a secondary channel are formed between the handling upper panel and the base plate. The collection port and initial and secondary channels are in fluid communication with one another. A chamber upper panel is attached to the base plate within the analysis chamber portion. Abstract:

An apparatus includes a computing system that is configured to receive, from an electronic device, a verification message indicating that the electronic device is not corrupt. The computing system is also configured to receive, from the electronic device, a unique universal identifier (UUID) that is associated with an application stored in a memory of the electronic device. The computing system is further configured to receive, from a management server of the one or more management servers, a server key stored in a credential store and that is associated with the UUID received from the electronic device. In addition, the computing system is configured to establish one or more secure channels for electronic data communication with the electronic device based on the received UUID and the server key.
