Abstract:

Disclosed herein is a disk drive that includes a housing including a base, the base defining a blind receptacle, a spindle motor attached to the base, a disk mounted to the spindle motor and a head stack assembly pivotally coupled to the base. The head stack assembly includes a body portion including a first bore defining a pivot axis, an actuator arm cantilevered from the body portion, and a head gimbal assembly supported at the actuator arm and including a head. The base defines a blind receptacle and the actuator arm defines a second bore that is situated so as to enable the second bore and the blind receptacle to align along an axis parallel to the pivot axis when the head stack assembly is pivoted such that the head is not over the disk.

Abstract:

A disk drive has an enclosure that includes a first portion and a second portion that is configured to mate with the first portion. A spindle motor is attached to the first portion and a disk is mounted to the spindle motor. A head stack assembly is pivotally coupled to the second portion prior to the first and second portions being mated to one another. The head stack assembly includes a read write head that is configured to read from and write to the recording surface of the disk after the first and second portions are mated to one another.

Abstract:

An apparatus is disclosed for inserting a previously compressed resilient stopper into a bottle and includes a plunger unit having a protrusion; a compressor having a first and second portion with the first portion having a first cavity that has a first aperture and a second aperture and with the second portion having a centering guide. The protrusion has a protrusion length sufficient to push the stopper along the first cavity so as to partially insert the stopper into a mouth of the bottle when the mouth is held against the centering guide. The first cavity has a dimension that compresses the stopper so that it fits into the mouth of the bottle when the stopper is pushed along the first cavity, while permitting the extraction of the compressor away from the stopper and the bottle without extracting the stopper from the mouth.

Abstract:

The present invention generally pertains to hydro-mechanical transmission using fixed displacement motors and pumps in conjunction with two or more mechanical differentials to accomplish continuously variable transfer ratio change and a means to seek the operating point of peak efficiency. In addition a hydraulic transmission is described that uses only one differential. In addition, an all-mechanical by-pass feature is included to allow the operation of road vehicles at high speed for extended periods at high efficiency. A means is described to provide for mechanical stability under all operating conditions. One intended application is a hydraulic transmission system for vehicles using hydraulic regenerative braking.The all mechanical by-pass allows operation in an “overdrive” and “free-wheeling” mode.

Abstract:

A sprag clutch assembly is provided for use within a hydro-mechanical vehicle transmission. The assembly provides for high packaging density of the transmission by allowing the related hydraulic devices to be located on the same side of the clutch assembly. An actuator causes the clutch to be engaged or dis-engaged. One version of the clutch can be designed either as a non-slip clutch or a one-way clutch. A second version of the clutch can be both a one way clutch and a non-slip clutch.
