Abstract:

An immersed electromagnetic torque motor having a movable flapper is protected against the accumulation of contamination in magnetic gaps of the motor and the resulting jamming of the motor by coating the motor with a lacquer or other fluid-impermeable material and mounting the motor in a blind fluid chamber from which the flapper projects. An aperture is provided in the coating at a low flux area on the exterior of the motor to admit the immersing fluid for purposes of mechanical damping and, at the same time, to restrict the migration of fluid and contaminants toward magnetic gaps within the torque motor.

Abstract:

A spring biased poppet valve has the exposed end of its poppet plunger engaging the underside of a lever, and the poppet and lever are biased upwardly so that a tit on the upperside of the lever engages a cam surface defined on a cam member loosely mounted on a generally horizontal rock shaft. The shaft can be moved through an angular range of displacements as part of a normal control system, which system receives fluid operating pressure through the open poppet valve. An adjustable stop screw mounted to the shaft is so oriented that the cam member is positively moved about the axis of the shaft when the shaft has reached a predetermined angular displacement, whereby further movement of the shaft permits the spring loaded poppet valve to close.

Abstract:

A temperature or pressure sensor that produces a hydraulic pressure signal proportional to temperature or pressure. The sensor or transducer utilizes a plurality of bellows acting on a valve nozzle plate so that the temperature signal which is a gas pressure moves the nozzle plate to control the flow through the nozzle as a function of temperature thus producing a metered pressure proportional to temperature. The bellows are arranged to minimize temperature error in the transducer. Where the temperature sensed is engine inlet temperature the metered pressure may be used to control the fuel through the turbine engine as a function of the engine inlet temperature. This same device is equally utilized in measuring a pressure, such as compressor discharge pressure.

Abstract:

A fishing lure comprising a blade member having a general convex cross-sectional configuration, a plurality of eye members secured to the outer convex surface of the blade for selective connection with a fishing line, the peripheral configuration of the blade being substantially irregular egg-shaped with one portion thereof being wider than the longitudinally opposed portion, a ballast member secured to the narrower portion of the blade, and the eye members being disposed in substantial alignment along the longitudinal center line of the blade and spaced inwardly from the periphery of the wider portion thereof whereby the movement of the lure through the water during retrieval thereof is similar to the movement of a kite through the air.
