Abstract:

A microscope that preferentially displays either moving or stationary objects. This all-optical device operates in real-time using the coupling of optical beams in suitable nonlinear medium such as a photorefractive crystal of barium titanate. A holographic image is continuously written and compared with the real image. For the transient detection microscope any discrepancy between the two images is immediately visible. In the stationary object enhancing microscope stationary objects are enhanced and preferentially displayed.

Abstract:

A user interface for a robotic system includes a processing unit, an input handle, and a foot pedal. The input handle includes an actuation control that has an actuated position. In the actuated position of the input handle, the input handle transmits a handle signal to the processing unit. The foot pedal includes an actuation switch and has an actuated position. In the actuated position of the foot pedal, the foot pedal transmits a foot signal to the processing unit. The processing nit is configured to associate the input handle with the foot pedal in response to the actuation control being actuated and released. The processing unit is also configured to generate a control signal configured to actuate a tool associated with the input handle when the processing unit simultaneously receives a handle signal from the associated input handle and a foot signal form the foot pedal.

Abstract:

A seed growing device, method, and system are described. The seed growing device may comprise a solid-shape and a seed-enclosure located within the solid-shape. The solid-shape may comprise a mixture. The mixture may comprise a dry acid and a dry base. The seed-enclosure may comprise a seed and/or spore. The seed-enclosure may comprise an outer-layer that may be dissolvable upon contact with liquid water. When the solid-shape may be sufficiently wetted with liquid water, the dry acid and the dry base may absorb at least some of the liquid water to interact in an aqueous acid base chemical reaction causing bubbling and transitioning the solid-shape from a dry state into a liquid state; and in some embodiments emitting a fragrance. At least some of the liquid water may dissolve the seed-enclosure enough to permit some of the liquid water to reach the seed and initiate seed germination.
