Abstract:

Methods and apparatus for finding a match between or among persons (), characteristics and/or objects are disclosed. In one embodiment of the invention, an electronic device (), such as a handheld radio, is used to find a person who meets criteria specified by a user. In another embodiment, this electronic device () is programmed with information regarding the genetic attributes () of individuals. These individuals are matched by computing a correlation of the genetic attributes of two individuals (). The information regarding these genetic attributes are determined by testing a tissue or fluid sample. In yet another embodiment of the invention, once biological or genetic attributes () are determined, a perfume () may be manufactured which is based on a unique set of genetic attributes, and which may either fortify the sexual self-confidence and broadcast the attributes of the person who wears the perfume, or may be used to enhance the attractiveness of another person.

Abstract:

A device is set forth for trimming branch and frond segments from trees which includes a frame positionable about the trunk and a mechanism disposed on the frame for driving the frame upwardly and downwardly along the trunk. A carriage is carried by the frame and encircles the trunk. Trimming blades are mounted on the carriage in a chordal relationship and are biased to maintain engagement with the trunk. As the frame is driven upwardly, a motor rotates the carriage causing the blades to remove the branch and frond segments from the tree.

Abstract:

A paving mixture containing black asphalt which is changed to a color other than black by the addition of a limited amount of a coloring agent to the mixture, such as ferric oxide, to impart a permanent, distinctive color to the pavement without sacrificing any of the wearing qualities thereof. At the same time, the cost of the pavement is maintained within practical economic limits so that it may be used in the production of paved areas of limited extent, such as tennis courts, playgrounds, running tracks, parking lots, airport runways, etc. When the mixture is laid down in depths of one-fourth inch to twelve inches, the increased cost of the pavement is made up in a reasonably short period of time by the elimination of the need for painting the conventional black surface repeatedly, especially when the latter is subjected to extensive use and wear.

Abstract:

Techniques are disclosed to facilitate group activities in a virtual environment. An indication is conveyed of a region surrounding a first avatar as being a group activity region, upon detecting that the first avatar is leading a first group activity in the virtual environment. The region is defined by proximity to the first avatar. A second avatar is allowed to participate in the first group activity with the first avatar in the region, only when the second avatar is within the region surrounding the first avatar in the virtual environment.
