Abstract:

In a paper machine having a roll rotating about an axis extending in a cross machine direction, and having a doctor blade applied to the roll surface by a blade holder parallel to the axis and carried on a doctor back, an apparatus is provided for accommodating relative movement between the blade holder and the doctor back in the cross machine direction during mounting and removal of the blade holder. The apparatus comprises a rail fixed to the doctor back and extending longitudinally in the cross machine direction. A groove extends along the length of the guide rail. The groove has a bottom, a width measured between confronting sides, and a top defined by ledges projecting inwardly from the sides, with inner edges spaced one from the other to define a slot that underlies the blade holder and has a width narrower than the width of the groove. A plurality of shafts are spaced along the length of the blade holder and project downwardly through the slot and into the groove. First and second independently rotatable elements are carried by each of the shafts.

Abstract:

A connector assembly for the at least partially stripped end of an optical fiber cable includes a crimp ring (10) having a longitudinal bore (14) therethrough, the bore having a large diameter portion (20) and a small diameter portion (22). The large diameter portion is adapted to engage a jacketed segment of cable (28) whereas the small diameter portion (22) is adapted to encompass an unjacketed segment of cable (28). The crimp ring (10) is crimped onto the unjacketed segment about small diameter portion (22), and coupling means, e. g. , flange member (24), are used to couple crimp ring (10) to connector plug (36) by crimping on flange member (24). The connector plug (36) receives crimp ring (10) therein, has a bore (38) through which the cable (28) passes, and has an outlet (42) where the cable (28) is cleaved.

Abstract:

A fishing lure exhibiting a combined traversing action and spray inducing surfing has a streamlined body with a flat top and a trailing flexible skirt. The body is diamond shaped in one cross-section and has a leader receiving aperture extending longitudinally therethrough. A long cylindrical weight is positioned symmetrically between the body sides and eccentrically between the flat top and leader receiving aperture.

Photodynamic therapy apparatus providing improved light distribution with an end fitting for use with clad optical fibers, which apparatus cooperates with an unclad stripped terminal end of the optical fiber that is inwardly tapered towards its end such that light scattering media disposed between a glass tube surrounding at least the tapered portion of the optical fiber provides improved and predictable light distribution, the media being suitably cured to a rigid relationship thereby to continuously provide improved light distribution.
