Abstract:

A moistening system for moistening the gummed flaps of envelopes being processed in a postage meter mailing machine includes a rotating endless belt extending into a liquid supply and transferring moisture to flaps pressed against it by a contoured finger positioned adjacent to the belt. The finger is curvedly bowed and twisted relative to the belt moistening surface so as to urge essentially only the gummed portion of the flap against the belt for moistening although a wide variety of envelope flap designs and sizes are processed. The endless belt may be pivotably supported to permit convenient removal of the liquid supply container. The container is part of a liquid reservoir assembly which includes a tray support for the container which requires that several motions, vertical and horizontal, be sequentially followed before the container may be removed from the machine. This minimizes inadvertent spillage. The container may have cam surfaces cooperating with complementary parts of the endless belt device to pivot it.

Abstract:

A connector assembly for the at least partially stripped end of an optical fiber cable includes a crimp ring (10) having a longitudinal bore (14) therethrough, the bore having a large diameter portion (20) and a small diameter portion (22). The large diameter portion is adapted to engage a jacketed segment of cable (28) whereas the small diameter portion (22) is adapted to encompass an unjacketed segment of cable (28). The crimp ring (10) is crimped onto the unjacketed segment about small diameter portion (22), and coupling means, e. g. , flange member (24), are used to couple crimp ring (10) to connector plug (36) by crimping on flange member (24). The connector plug (36) receives crimp ring (10) therein, has a bore (38) through which the cable (28) passes, and has an outlet (42) where the cable (28) is cleaved.

A medical device can include a housing, a first seal structure, and a seal expander. The first seal structure can have a proximal end and a distal end, and a side wall surrounding and defining an interior chamber. A seal wall can be connected to the side wall and include an expandable opening. In accordance with at least one embodiment of the present disclosure, a system includes an imaging instrument with a shaft including a proximal end, a distal end, and a lens at a distal end portion of the shaft. The system also includes a collar at a proximal end portion of the shaft. A cleaning device coupled to the imaging instrument includes a tubular member sized to receive the shaft of the imaging instrument.
