Abstract:

A waste water filtration system filters polluted waste water from various waste water sources including fire sprinkler systems and fire hydrants. The system includes a sight tube which connects to a female swivel connection on, for example, a Fire Department Connection (FDC). A flexible hose connects the sight tube to a mobile filtering system. The sight tube allows the observation of a waste water flow from the waste water source to ensure that a complete flushing has been accomplished. The filtering system includes a stainer to capture large particles, a filter to capture small particles, and a chemically selective sponge to capture, for example, oil, and destroy bacteria. The filtering system allows compliance with NFPA Standards, California State Fire Marshal's “Title 19 Regulations for maintaining fire sprinkler systems, and Federal Clean Water laws, Federal Coastal Zone laws, and local city ordinances for releasing liquids into storm drains.

A method of delivering a substance into an eye includes recognizing a connection between a tip segment and a limited reuse assembly; receiving dosage information from the tip segment; activating a temperature control device to alter a temperature of a substance to be delivered into an eye; receiving temperature information from a thermal sensor; using the temperature information to control the temperature control device; receiving an input indicating that the substance is to be delivered; and based on the dosage information, controlling an actuator to move a plunger to deliver the substance.

Abstract:

A disposable injection device has a dispensing chamber housing, a plunger, a needle, and a temperature control device. The dispensing chamber housing has an inner surface and an outer surface. The inner surface partially defines a dispensing chamber for receiving a quantity of a substance. The plunger is engaged with the inner surface of the dispensing chamber housing, is capable of sliding in the dispensing chamber housing, and is fluidly sealed to the inner surface of the dispensing chamber housing. The plunger has a plunger interface. The needle is fluidly coupled to the dispensing chamber. The temperature control device at least partially surrounds the dispensing chamber housing and alters a temperature of the substance in the dispensing chamber. The substance is injected after the temperature of the substance is altered.

An ophthalmic injection system has a tip segment attachable to and removable from a limited reuse assembly. A method and apparatus for upper limb rehabilitation training of coordinated arm/forearm, forearm/forearm and grasping movements of a motor impaired patient comprises a nonrobotic, passive support, an arm/forearm sensor, a gripping device, a grip sensor capable of measuring an impaired grasping force of a grasping of the patient, a computer to process measurements of coordinated and simultaneous impaired arm/forearm, forearm/forearm and grasping movements to control a graphical representation of the arm/forearm and grasping movements in interaction with a virtual environment, and to provide a visual feedback signal to the patient of simulated normal activities of daily living performed with enhanced motor ability relative to the actual impaired motor ability. Abstract:

A method of injecting a substance into an eye is disclosed. A connection between a disposable tip segment and a limited reuse assembly is recognized. A temperature control device is activated to alter the temperature of a substance contained in a dispensing chamber. Dosage information is read. In response to the dosage information, a mechanical linkage interface is advanced to advance a plunger to expel the substance from the dispensing chamber. The mechanical linkage interface is retracted without substantially retracting the plunger to prevent reflux of the substance. Reuse of the disposable tip segment is prevented. The removal of the disposable tip segment from the limited reuse assembly is recognized.
