Abstract:

A system for facilitating interoperability between a plurality of disjoint radio systems across a digital network includes one or more local gateways communicating with a network operations center. Each of the local gateways is associated with at least one radio system, and includes an interface to the digital network, a transceiver receiving wireless communications on the associated radio system, and a router configured to route at least some of the data received from the transceiver on the digital network. The network operations center processes data received from the various local gateways and forwards the processed data to the local gateways associated with the appropriate recipients. Local gateways may also be configured to convert legacy communications to digital formats, and/or may provide digital access to multiple disjoint wireless systems. The network operations center may further provide access security, network management, key management and/or other features.

Abstract:

A system for conveying heavy loads or pallets that includes a conveyor device and a frictional pivot device for rotating these loads. The pivot device has a normal position below the conveyance plane, out of contact with a load, and is moved towards into frictional engagement with the load so as to form a pivot axis, the load being continually supported by the conveyor device. The conveyor device then drives the load, which is pinned at the pivot axis, such that the load is pivoted. When the desired rotation is achieved, the pivot device is lowered so that the load may be moved away.

Abstract:

A variable power conveyance apparatus for propelling loads under environments where the angle of inclination of a conveyance path may change. For these apparatuses, in particular, those located in aircraft cargo bays, drive units are constructed to drive heavy loads under all conditions, including up a slope. These drive units may be organized into sets for loading pallets into and out of the aircraft and along the left and right storage tracks within fore and aft sections of the aircraft. An inclinometer senses the aircraft's angle of inclination and generates a representative electronic signal. Control logic determines whether to apply, via an SCR circuit, a minimum voltage or a greater variable voltage if the selected set of drive units is called upon to drive the pallets up a slope. Three-phase voltage supplied to the selected set of drive units is thereby altered to provide only that voltage necessary to convey loads, and thus facilitates stalling of drive units supporting loads that have reached an end stop. This eliminates unnecessary roller wear and cargo deck maintenance.
