Abstract:

A spacecraft architecture and accompanying standard allows for the creation of a spacecraft using an assortment of modules that comply with the standard. The standard preferably includes both mechanical and electrical compatibility criteria. To assure physical/mechanical compatibility, the structure of each module is constrained to be compatible with any other compatible module. To minimize the interference among modules, the extent of each module in select dimensions is also constrained. To assure functional compatibility, a common communication format is used to interface with each module, and each public-function module is configured to respond to requests for function capabilities that it can provide to other functions. Each module is preferably designed to provide structural support to the assemblage of modules, and an anchor module is provided or defined for supporting the entire assemblage and coupling the assemblage to other structures, such as a launch vehicle.

Abstract:

A Remote Car Heating System for heating an interior portion of a vehicle without starting the vehicle. The inventive device includes an electric heater, a pliable mat secured to the electric heater, a remote sensor electrically connected to the electric heater, and a remote control for transmitting a signal which the remote sensor detects. The remote sensor includes a clip for removably coupling the sensor to the rear view mirror of a vehicle.

Abstract:

A collision detection mechanism includes a transmission protocol which locates a gap in a station's transmission, of fixed duration and position, relative to start of transmission. Collision detection is enhanced since random timing of collisions normally results in filling in the gap. This condition is more readily detectable than detecting the simultaneous presence of energy from two transmitters. The transmission protocol is followed unless the transmitting station detects a collision, in which event gap creation is inhibited. The gap detecting equipment may be located at a network head end.
