Abstract:
A telescoping, pole-type lure retriever has a snare portion that wraps around a fishing line and is guided thereon for removing a fishing lure that is snagged on an underwater obstruction or weeds. An elongated pole has a number of telescoping sections that may be extended to a convenient length to disengage the lure. Each telescoping section may be locked in position by turning a locking nut that compresses a locking ring in a cammed fashion to grip a smaller diameter pole section. The snake portion has a knurled shank seated in locking engagement with a sleeve member and with the sleeve fitted in the end of one pole section.
Method For Remote Collection Of Signaling Messages For Routing Analysis And Trouble Detection
A method for monitoring the signaling network in a telecommunication system comprises extending a copy of each signaling message processed by a particular signal transfer point to an interface unit. The interface unit relays "of interest" messages to a signal monitoring system (SMS) in accordance with a pre-determined filtering protocol. In the SMS, messages are correlated in accordance with a pre-defined correlating protocol. The correlated signaling messages are subsequently retrieved by an OSS technician for analysis and updates.

Abstract:
An Operations Support System, comprised of a computer and workstation, stores digit analysis specifications for telecommunications call processing. A graphical user interface displays digit analysis specifications visually as subtrees made up of nodes representing the digits of the dialed number. Two subtrees can be displayed contemporaneously for evaluation and manipulation independently and from one to another. Operations performed on the nodes also operate on the embedded digit analysis specifications permitting manipulation of the specifications without the need to view or deal with the specifications themselves directly. Related information such as Routing Table Indexes and local exchange numbers called NXX numbers are displayed contemporaneous with display of a subtree of interest and are manipulated with regard to that subtree.

Abstract:
A connector clip 12 is shown having a "U" shaped body member 30 including a base 34 and two parallel, extending legs 32. The ends of each of the legs 32 define camming surfaces 42 and a socket retaining notch 44. The clip includes a pair of first spacing feet 47 positioned medially upon each leg 32 and a pair of second spacing feet 36 located at the ends of a base member 34. The feet 36, 47 serve to limit relative movement between the clip 12 and a plug 14 which holds the clip 12 to a circuit board 22. A pair of spaced fingers 48 together with the circuit board 22 and the facing surfaces of the legs 32 define an access opening which serves to align the socket 24 with a plug 14. The second embodiment of FIGS. 5 and 6 includes a pair of arms 50 which engage the circuit board 22 surface opposite the surface upon which the plug 14 is mounted. The arms 50 prevent relative movement between the clip 12 and the circuit board 22.

Abstract:
A method for detecting translation data error in a central office switch comprises: receiving a call directed to a ported directory number in a switch; retrieving translation data from the switch memory to connect the call to a customer line; and determining that the call cannot be completed to a customer line served by the switch. Upon determining that the call cannot be connected to a customer line served by the switch, a translation data error (TDE) indicator is set in the switch memory so that the instant call, and all subsequent calls directed to the same ported directory number, are connected to an announcement circuit. An translation data error message is also sent to a central switch maintenance and control center by the switch.

Abstract:
An end office of the PSTN, which employs independent switching networks which share one or more office codes, is served by a single assigned node on the CCS network. The signaling processor which serves the assigned node, screens all incoming call messages (IAM)'s; directs messages which include an appropriate Channel Identification Code (CIC) to the switching network that serves that CIC; rejects messages that include an improper CIC; and requests that the calling office assign a different CIC to the incoming call. In an alternate configuration, a signaling message intercept unit is interposed between a signal transfer point (STP) and end switches, to determine which of two or more switches should receive a message, based on the directory number, a circuit identifier or a message index of the received message, and forwards the message to the correct switch.

Abstract:
A method for automatically transferring customer data among a plurality of central office switches comprises receiving a work order message from a central provisioning system at a message directing switch. The message directing switch is in communication with at least one message receiving switch in a local telecommunication network. Upon determining that a particular work order message received from a central provisioning system requires a coordinated data transfer, a data query is formulated in the message directing switch to retrieve specific data, such as data relating to a customer directory number, from a message receiving switch. Once the data is received in the message directing switch, the data is processed and retained in the message directing switch or delivered to another switch in the telecommunications network. The method and system alleviates the need for manual retrieval and installation of specific customer line data when a directory number is moved from one central office switch to another.

Michigan Official: Union-Dues Ban Spares State Workers
The so-called right-to-work laws passed and signed Dec. 11dont supersede the Michigan Civil Service Commissionsauthority, said commissioner Robert Swanson. Of the states49,000 workers, about 35,000 would be exempt, according to thecommissions annual report.
The state constitution puts the commission in charge of such matters, said Robert Swanson, one of four members of the panel, who are appointed by the governor. A spokeswoman for Snyder disagreed, insisting the laws apply to all public employees.
"It's a pause button," Robert Swanson, executive chairman of Linear Technology Corp., told investors Oct. 17, after the semiconductor maker reported a 3% drop in fiscal first-quarter profit. Chief Financial Officer Paul Coghlan said companies that use Linear's chips are growing more cautious before
