Abstract:

A tachometer pulse generator is coupled to the shaft of an electric motor. The output of the pulse generator is gated into a pulse counter circuit during a first fixed time interval. During a second fixed time interval which follows the first fixed time interval, the motor is speeded up if the count attained by the counter in the preceeding first time interval is less than a preset number or is slowed down if the count is equal to or greater than the preset number. The first and second time intervals follow each other periodically, thereby alternately measuring the speed of the motor and correcting the same to approach a preset speed which is proportional to the preset number of the counter circuit. Two preset numbers can be employed, one corresponding to a lower speed correction threshold and the other corresponding to an upper speed correction threshold. The motor is speeded up if the count attained by the counter is below the lower speed correction threshold or is slowed down if the count attained by the counter is equal to or above the upper speed correction threshold.

Abstract:

A speed control circuit has a comparator which compares a voltage signal which is indicative of the actual speed of a shaft with a digital reference which is indicative of the desired speed of the shaft. If the actual speed is different than the desired shaft speed, a bi-directional control mechanism is operated in one direction or the other to adjust the actual speed of the shaft. The operation of the bi-directional control mechanism is periodically interrupted to increment the amount the actual shaft speed is changed to prevent overshoot of the desired speed.

Abstract:

A bale transfer system for transferring bales from a baler mechanism to a support vehicle including a baler mechanism a bale tipper mechanism and a bale receiving station for receiving bales ejected from the baler mechanism. Each bale when ejected has a height dimension and a width dimension. A tipper mechanism is mounted at the bale receiving station and is operable to reposition a bale 90. degree. so that its height dimension becomes its width dimension. A bale loading means is provided for loading the repositioned bales into a transport vehicle. The tipper is comprised of a rotatable bale tipping wing having a bale support surface and a rotatable bale support wing having a bale support surface. The bale tipper mechanism further includes a power means for activating the tipping and support wings to thereby reposition a bale 90. degree. as it is moved from the tipping wing support surface to the support wing support surface.

Abstract:

A baler machine including a charging chamber for receiving materials to be baled. The charging chamber has a charging passageway communicating with a baling compression chamber. A compression ram is operable to force material from the charging chamber into the compression chamber to thereby form a bale. The compression chamber has an exit passageway through which the baled material is forced by an ejector ram. A bale release mechanism is mounted adjacent the exit passageway. The bale release mechanism includes a rotatably mounted gate member movable between a normal operating position and a retracted open position wherein the size of the exit passageway is increased to allow the passage of an oversized bale. A power cylinder is operatively connected to the bale release mechanism to move the mechanism between its closed and retracted positions.

Abstract:

Baling apparatus including a baling chamber and a compression ram mounted for reciprocal movement therein and a bale strapping chamber positioned adjacent the baling chamber. The cycle is started by positioning a strapped bale in the strapping chamber between upper and lower platform members. Bale material such as newspapers and cardboard is introduced into the baling chamber and the compression ram is reciprocated to progressively form a bale against one end of the strapped bale in the strapping chamber. During such bale forming operation the newly formed bale is gradually pushed between the upper and lower platform members to thereby force the strapped bale out from between such platform members on to a take-away conveyor. A pair of pivotally mounted gate members are mounted on opposite sides of the baling chamber at the exit thereof. The take-away conveyor can be tilted to separate the adjacent ends of the unstrapped and strapped bales.

Abstract:
