Abstract:

A battery stack has a plurality of inner frames and a plurality of outer frames. Pairs of inner and outer rings are connected by a web of porous insulating material which separates battery plates. The frames are fused together forming a unity housing with an inner electrolyte well.

Abstract:

A electrochemical cell has a generally cylindrical battery stack comprised of disc-shaped components including atlernating first polarity electrodes and second polarity electrodes. Pairs of first polarity electrodes are coupled by ring-shaped couling members. The coupling members include radial channels such as grooves which allow the passage of a liquid cell component from a central well into the battery stack.

Abstract:

An instrument for providing an altitude representation in accordance with ambient atmospheric pressure has a mechanism that is manually-operable to effect adjustment to the setting of a datum against which the representation is provided. A mechanical feedback is applied to the mechanism in accordance with the datum setting such that the setting of the datum depends both upon the manual operation of the mechanism and the feedback applied to the mechanism as a result of that manual operation. The mechanism may include a worm gear that is rotatable in accordance with manual operation of the mechanism in which case the feedback is introduced into the mechanism by longitudinally displacing the worm gear.

Abstract:

An anode structure for a cylindrical primary electrochemical cell. The anode structure in accordance with the invention includes a thin, circular, lithium metal disc having a central opening therein, and a small, thin, resilient, metal (e. g. , nickel) contact member secured to the lithium disc. The metal contact member is of a generally circular configuration and has a flat central portion with a circular opening therein aligned with the opening in the lithium disc. The contact member has a plurality of tab portions extending outwardly from, and spaced at regular intervals about, its outer periphery, and a pair of spikes or barbs depending from opposed ends of each tab portion. The spikes are pressed into the soft lithium disc at points spaced from the opening therein for permanently securing the contact member to the disc. The contact member further has a plurality of notches spaced at regular intervals about the perimeter of the central opening thereby to define a plurality of resilient, deflective portions intermediate to the notches. The deflective portions lie in a flat, common plane with each of the deflective portions having an exposed edge facing a central axis of the contact member.
